Senior Azure Cloud Migration Engineer (HPE NonStop / AIRES Modernization)

Location: REMOTE


Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Migration Engineer to lead the migration of the AIRES application from HPE NonStop infrastructure located in client's Washington and Phoenix data centers into Microsoft Azure. This position will play a critical role in planning, executing, and optimizing the migration while ensuring application stability, security, and performance.


The successful candidate will have deep expertise in enterprise cloud migrations, HPE NonStop environments, SQL technologies, and Azure infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of AIRES from on-premises HPE NonStop environments to Microsoft Azure.
  • Assess existing application architecture and develop migration strategies.
  • Design and implement Azure-based solutions that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application development, database, and security teams.
  • Support SQL/MX and SQL Server migration activities.
  • Perform migration testing, validation, and post-migration optimization.
  • Identify and mitigate migration risks.
  • Develop migration documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to client's enterprise architecture and security standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of infrastructure or application migration experience.
  • Proven experience migrating enterprise applications from on-premises environments to Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong knowledge of HPE NonStop systems.
  • Experience with SQL/MX, SQL, and SQL Server.
  • Understanding of Azure networking, storage, compute, and security.
  • Experience with enterprise application modernization.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (Administrator, Solutions Architect, or equivalent).
  • Experience with legacy application modernization.
  • Familiarity with COBOL and TAL.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise systems.
  • Knowledge of DevOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.
