Job description

SBG Technology Solutions, Inc. (SBG), a DSS, Inc. company, offers Systems Engineering, Enterprise Modernization, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and IT Governance innovation to Federal and commercial clients nationwide. 

Overview

The Cloud Architect leads technical assessments and architecture designs to ensure application compatibility and readiness for deployment into DSS Health Cloud, a FedRAMP High authorized healthcare-focused platform hosted in an AWS Government enclave environment. This role supports Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and government applications through structured reviews, security validation, and onboarding planning.

The Cloud Architect will:

  • Conducts architecture reviews to evaluate cloud readiness and scalability of applications targeted for onboarding to DSS Health Cloud

  • Evaluates application compatibility with AWS GovCloud environments and identifies technical gaps or remediation requirements

  • Defines cloud migration strategies and develops remediation roadmaps to bring applications into compliance with FedRAMP High requirements

  • Assesses and validates compliance with FedRAMP High architecture requirements, including security controls and configuration baselines

  • Provides interoperability guidance covering FHIR, HL7, and API integration standards relevant to healthcare application environments

  • Supports onboarding roadmap development in coordination with ISV teams, government stakeholders, and DSS Health Cloud operations personnel

  • Applies cloud-native application design principles and DevSecOps practices to technical review and assessment activities

  • Advises on multi-tenant architecture design and Zero Trust principles in the context of government cloud environments

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management in support of SBG Technology Solutions contract objectives

  • Travel requirements: occasional travel as required by project needs (estimated up to 10% per year)

Security and Privacy Duties and Responsibilities:

Individuals working for SBG Technology Solutions, Inc, a DSS, Inc. will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access. Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in AWS architecture, including design and management of government enclave environments

  • Demonstrated experience with cloud-native application design and DevSecOps practices

  • Knowledge of multi-tenant architecture and Zero Trust principles as applied in federal cloud environments

  • Familiarity with healthcare data integration standards, including FHIR, HL7, and API-based interoperability

  • Ability to assess technical compliance against FedRAMP High controls and documentation requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly convey technical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Organized and capable of managing multiple concurrent assessments and deliverable

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS) in a FedRAMP environment

  • Familiarity with DSS Health Cloud or similar healthcare-focused cloud platforms

  • Knowledge of VA or DoD health IT systems and standards

Education: 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • A combination of education and experience will be considered (2 years of relevant experience equivalent to 1 year in a degree program)
