Job description

Job Description:

We are seeking a Performance Test Engineer who helps teams build fast, stable, and scalable services and web experiences. This role focuses on designing, executing, and evolving performance tests that provide fast feedback, uncover risks early, and protect the customer experience under realworld conditions.

You'll work closely with delivery teams to embed performance thinking into everyday engineering-well before release time. Rather than testing at the end, you'll help teams validate latency, scalability, and resilience continuously through automation, CI/CD integration, and observabilitydriven insights.

You'll begin by learning our service landscape, React frontend architecture, customer journeys, and operational patterns. From there, you'll design and execute k6based performance tests (JavaScript), support Playwrightdriven synthetic journeys, and help teams interpret results to make informed engineering decisions.

This is not a siloed performance role. Delivery teams own quality and performance. Your role is to enable, implement, and operationalize performance testing so it becomes a natural part of how teams build and release software.

Your mission is clear: help ensure our applications remain responsive, resilient, and reliable-especially when it matters most.

What You'll Contribute

  • Performance testing embedded early in development and design
  • Reliable, repeatable performance automation across services and UI
  • Clear visibility into latency, throughput, and scalability risks
  • Actionable performance feedback integrated into CI/CD
  • Strong collaboration between QE, Engineering, and SRE
What Will You Do?

Apply a PerformanceFirst Mindset

  • Participate in design and refinement discussions to understand performance expectations and risks
  • Help translate customer experience goals into measurable performance targets
  • Identify performance risks related to service dependencies, data access, caching, and frontend rendering

Design and Execute Performance Tests

  • Build and maintain performance, load, stress, and endurance tests
  • Develop realistic workload models that reflect production usage patterns
  • Execute tests across APIs, microservices, event flows, and web journeys

Support Performance Engineering Across Services and Web

  • Create reusable test scripts, templates, and utilities
  • Contribute to shared performance testing standards and practices
  • Help teams interpret test results and identify meaningful bottlenecks

Performance Testing in CI/CD

  • Integrate automated performance checks into pipelines
  • Support baseline creation, regression detection, and failfast signals
  • Maintain versioncontrolled performanceascode assets

Strengthen Observability and Diagnostics

  • Use observability tools to analyze performance test results
  • Correlate performance metrics with logs, traces, and user experience data
  • Assist in investigating performance regressions and incidents

Support Scalability and Readiness

  • Participate in readiness activities for major releases and peak traffic events
  • Validate behavior under load, including retries, timeouts, caching, and rate limits
  • Help confirm systems meet defined nonfunctional requirements (NFRs)
Qualifications

Required

  • 8 years of experience in Performance Testing, Quality Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • Handson experience with performance/load testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter, Neoload, Locust, or similar)
  • Experience writing performance tests using JavaScript or similar scripting languages
  • Understanding of API testing (REST; GraphQL a plus)
  • Experience executing stress, endurance, spike, and scalability tests
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution
  • Basic understanding of cloudnative architectures (containers, Kubernetes concepts)
  • Ability to analyze test results and communicate findings clearly
  • Strong collaboration skills in Agile, crossfunctional teams

Preferred

  • Experience running performance tests in containerized or Kubernetes environments
  • Exposure to Playwright or similar tools for synthetic user journeys
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
  • Experience with Reactbased frontend applications
  • Experience with backend services (e.g., Spring Boot)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Why This Role Matters
  • Your work directly protects the customer experience during hightraffic and critical moments
  • You'll help teams catch performance risks early-before they reach production
  • You'll contribute to a modern, engineeringled quality culture
  • You'll grow your skills in performance engineering, automation, and observability
  • You'll collaborate with engineers who value quality, learning, and shared ownership
