AutoCAD Draftsman 

FOTS Program | Ontario, CA | Full-Time

Position Overview

Crown Innovations is seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Drafter to support the FAA FOTS Program, specifically within the Airport Cable Loop (ACL) initiative. This role focuses on translating field-collected geospatial survey data into accurate AutoCAD drawings and KML files used to support critical airport communications infrastructure.

The successful candidate will work closely with the field survey team to process GPS coordinate data and produce detailed AutoCAD drawings that support the installation and documentation of airport cable infrastructure.

This position requires strong AutoCAD drafting skills combined with experience integrating geospatial data, interpreting survey information, and maintaining precise engineering documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

Geospatial Data Integration & Drafting

Receive and process GPS coordinate data provided by the field survey team (typically from Trimble TerraFlex)
Plot and georeference manhole locations and infrastructure data within AutoCAD
Develop or refine airport base maps using available imagery, airport layouts, or survey information
Ensure accurate coordinate system alignment and geospatial referencing

Infrastructure Drawing Development

Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings illustrating manhole structures and cable routing
Document interior manhole structures including walls and relevant infrastructure components
Illustrate existing and proposed cable routing within manholes
Integrate structural or utility details provided by the field survey team

Data & File Generation

Generate KML files from AutoCAD drawings for visualization within Google Earth or Google Maps
Maintain accurate spatial data and associated infrastructure documentation
Perform quality control checks to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness
Maintain organized CAD drawing files in accordance with project standards

Collaboration & Project Coordination

Collaborate with the survey team to clarify GPS data points and field conditions
Interpret field notes, survey documentation, and photographs provided by survey teams
Maintain drawing standards aligned with FAA infrastructure project requirements
Support project timelines by producing accurate deliverables on schedule

Minimum Required Qualifications

Associate degree or two-year technical certificate in Drafting, GIS, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
Minimum two (2) years of professional drafting experience
Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D preferred)
Experience importing and plotting GPS coordinate data from survey files (CSV, TXT, etc.)
Working knowledge of geospatial coordinate systems such as UTM, State Plane, and WGS84
Experience georeferencing drawings within AutoCAD
Ability to interpret survey data, field notes, and supporting documentation
Strong attention to detail and drafting accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with field teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on airport infrastructure, utility mapping, or civil infrastructure projects
Familiarity with Trimble TerraFlex or Trimble Business Center (TBC) data formats
Experience producing KML files for Google Earth or geospatial visualization tools
Familiarity with FAA drafting standards or federally regulated infrastructure projects
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, GIS, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field

Compensation

Hourly Rate Range: $34.62 - $40.00 per hour (W2)
