In this role, you'll assess construction, agricultural, industrial, and other heavy equipment with precision, combining condition analysis, market knowledge, and appraisal expertise to deliver credible, standards-compliant valuations that clients can trust. A Machinery and Equipment Appraiser is responsible for evaluating and determining the fair market value of construction, agricultural, industrial, and other heavy machinery. To thrive in this role, a strong understanding of equipment market conditions, condition assessments, and real world market dynamics is needed. Assignments are performed in compliance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and American Society of Appraisers standards. Familiarity with appraisal software, condition assessment tools, and database systems is typically required for precise evaluations. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help appraisers gather accurate information and present valuations clearly to clients - competencies that are critical for producing credible appraisals that support financial transactions, insurance claims, and equipment sales.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough field inspections and appraisals of heavy equipment, construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and vehicles.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate valuation reports using industry-standard software and recognized appraisal methodologies.
  • Assess equipment condition, identify as "ready to work" vs. "project asset."
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with insurance adjusters, underwriters, lenders, and clients.
  • Research current market trends, auction results, and comparable sales data to support valuation conclusions.
  • Maintain organized and thorough records of all appraisal documentation.
  • Ensure all appraisals comply with USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) and other applicable guidelines.
  • Undertake additional assigned duties as requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, agriculture, or fleet.
  • Valid state adjuster or appraiser license.
  • Industry certification such as USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) or the ability to obtain certification is strongly preferred.
  • Continued education to maintain licensure and stay current with industry standards.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard appraisal and estimating software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in the field.
  • In-depth understanding of heavy machinery types, makes, and models.
  • Experienced with estimating and appraisal software platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with clients and insurers.
  • Ability to assess complex equipment conditions and market data accurately.
  • Capable of managing field assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Spanish speaking bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Working Settings:
  • Full-time Salaried Exempt, not eligible for overtime.
  • Office hours are 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, Central Time zone, additional hours may be required depending on priorities.
  • This position is remote work eligible within the United States. Please be aware: the first week of employment includes mandatory in-person training. Remote start arrangements are not available.
  • Potential for 40-50% travel.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation:
  • The salary varies based on experience and qualifications, but typically ranges from $65,000 to $85,000 per year.
  • Monthly Bonus Program - determined by the Company's monthly revenue result.
  • Monthly phone stipend in accordance with the Company's cell phone policy, currently $120/month.
