Serving individuals aged 5-21 across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, our network of K-12 schools provides personalized education tailored to each student's unique learning style. We offer comprehensive therapeutic services-speech, physical, occupational therapy, and more-along with vocational training for older students. Our dedicated team collaborates with families to ensure academic, social, and emotional growth, preparing students for success beyond the classroom.
At Gersh Autism, we are committed to helping individuals on the autism spectrum lead fulfilling, independent lives.
Gersh Autism is seeking an experienced Legal Coordinator to support student placement, enrollment, and legal compliance across our programs serving students on the autism spectrum. This role works closely with Admissions, School Leadership, and external legal partners to ensure placement decisions are timely, compliant, and aligned with special education law and organizational standards.

Student Placement & Legal Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education laws, including IDEA and FAPE
  • Provide legal and procedural guidance throughout the admissions, placement, and enrollment process
  • Review student records, including IEPs, evaluations, related services, and transportation mandates, to support placement decisions

Documentation & Case Management
  • Prepare, issue, track, and manage enrollment contracts, amendments, and Ten-Day Notices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready student files in accordance with legal and organizational standards

Collaboration & Coordination
  • Partner with Admissions, School Leadership, Transportation, Finance, and School Operations in a remote environment to support placement and enrollment needs
  • Collaborate with special education attorneys, advocates, and school districts regarding referrals, placements, and due process matters

Qualifications
  • Legal, admissions, or compliance experience within a special education or related educational setting required
  • Experience working with both referral and non-referral schools; ABA school experience strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of IEPs, evaluations, and special education documentation
  • Familiarity with IDEA, FAPE, and the Impartial Hearing process
  • Knowledge of the NYC and/or Long Island special education landscape preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or paralegal certification a plus

Benefits
Gersh Autism offers a competitive compensation package, including comprehensive health and retirement benefits, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment committed to your personal and professional growth.
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k matching)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Short-Term & Long-Term Disability
  • Training & Development
