Job description

Role Purpose

The SAP Project Manager manages the integrated execution plan for the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation and all dependent workstreams required for successful delivery. This includes SAP functional workstreams, integration, data migration, OCM, security, reporting, testing, cutover, third-party applications, source systems, vendors, and client-side readiness.

This role is not limited to managing the SAP S/4HANA project plan. The SAP Project Manager ensures that all SAP and non-SAP teams are synchronized to the overall SAP project lifecycle, phase gates, milestones, testing windows, data migration cycles, integration dependencies, cutover activities, and go-live readiness requirements.

SAP-specific delivery, testing, defects, phase gates, and readiness will be managed in SAP Cloud ALM. Non-SAP application workstreams, third-party vendors, integration dependencies, data migration activities, OCM milestones, and client-side execution will be tracked in approved Project Management tool. The SAP Project Manager maintains one integrated view of program status, risks, dependencies, decisions, and readiness across these tools.

The role reports delivery status, risks, unresolved decisions, and readiness evidence to the Senior Director of ERP Modernization. The SAP Project Manager manages the execution control layer - integrated schedule, RAID, dependency tracking, readiness evidence, quality gate tracking, and SI delivery follow-up - across SAP and dependent workstreams. Enterprise transformation outcomes, business adoption, benefits realization, scope tradeoffs, and go/no-go approval remain with the Senior Director, Program Director, and executive sponsors.

Key Responsibilities

Integrated Program Planning and Execution

  • Build and maintain the integrated master program plan across SAP, data migration, integration, OCM, security, reporting, testing, cutover, third-party applications, and client-owned workstreams.
  • Track the high-level project plan by phase across every major function and application, not only the SAP/SI plan.
  • Align all workstreams to the SAP Activate lifecycle, including Prepare, Explore, Realize/Build, Deploy, Go-Live, Hypercare, and Run.
  • Maintain visibility into critical path dependencies across SAP, connected applications, source systems, data teams, integration teams, business SMEs, security, OCM, and external vendors.
  • Provide exception-based reporting that shows what is on track, late, blocked, at risk, missing ownership, or requiring leadership decision.

SAP Cloud ALM and PMIS Coordination

  • Ensure SAP Cloud ALM is used as the system of record for SAP workstream execution, including SAP deliverables, test plans, defects, phase gate actions, sign-offs, and cutover readiness.
  • Ensure SAP and non-SAP workstreams are tracked through Monday.com, Smartsheet, MS Project, or another approved PMIS tool.
  • Maintain alignment between SAP Cloud ALM and the broader PMIS tool so leadership has one integrated view of progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and readiness.
  • Define and manage the operating rhythm for status updates, workstream reporting, RAID reviews, dependency reviews, decision reviews, and milestone readiness checks.
  • Prepare milestone readiness packs for Senior Director / Program Director review, including test status, defect status, data readiness, integration readiness, OCM readiness, security readiness, application readiness, open risks, and unresolved decisions.

Cross-Workstream Coordination

  • Maintain visibility into application team milestones, dependencies, and readiness; escalate gaps before they impact the SAP critical path.
  • Track each workstream's scope, milestones, deliverables, risks, decisions, dependencies, and readiness status.
  • Ensure non-SAP teams understand how their deliverables connect to SAP phase gates, testing windows, cutover, and go-live readiness.
  • Manage cross-application dependencies between SAP and platforms such as Salesforce, CPQ, Procore, Workday, Snowflake, reporting tools, security platforms, and other connected systems.
  • Escalate unresolved cross-workstream conflicts with clear impact, options, and recommended decisions.

Integration and Data Migration Management

  • Track the integration plan across SAP-facing and non-SAP interfaces, including scope, ownership, design status, build status, test sequencing, defects, environments, and cutover activation steps.
  • Ensure integration design, development, and testing align with SAP functional readiness, data readiness, security readiness, environment readiness, and application team availability.
  • Track the data migration plan across source extraction, mapping, staging, transformation, loading, validation, reconciliation, and sign-off.
  • Coordinate data activities across source system teams, Snowflake/data warehouse teams, SI data resources, SAP functional teams, business validators, and client-side data owners.
  • Coordinate and track Mock Load cycles, including validation, reconciliation sign-off, defect resolution, and cutover rehearsal sequencing; escalate risks that threaten SIT, UAT, or go-live.

OCM, Testing, Cutover, and Hypercare

  • Include OCM milestones in the integrated master plan, including change impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, role mapping, user readiness, and business readiness checkpoints.
  • Coordinate testing readiness across SAP functional workstreams, integrations, data, security, reporting, third-party applications, and business users.
  • Ensure SIT, UAT, regression testing, integration testing, data validation, and defect closure are aligned to the integrated program schedule.
  • Own cutover plan mechanics, including task sequencing, ownership, timing, dependencies, fallback steps, and command center structure. Prepare the go/no-go readiness package for approval.
  • Manage the Hypercare operating cadence with structured issue triage, SLA tracking, escalation, and closure reporting in SAP Cloud ALM.

SI, Vendor, RAID, and Decision Management

  • Track SI delivery against SOW milestones, SAP Activate deliverables, sprint commitments, quality gates, testing readiness, data migration responsibilities, integration deliverables, and cutover commitments.
  • Challenge SI and vendor status where it does not align with actual progress, dependencies, defects, deliverables, or readiness evidence.
  • Maintain the integrated RAID log, decision log, and dependency tracker across SAP and non-SAP workstreams.
  • Track risks and issues by workstream, owner, due date, business impact, milestone impact, and escalation path.
  • Escalate scope changes, budget impacts, business process tradeoffs, go/no-go decisions, SI commercial issues, major resource conflicts, unresolved architecture decisions, and any issue threatening phase readiness or critical path.

Key Deliverables

  • Integrated master program plan and PMIS-based cross-application program tracker.
  • SAP Cloud ALM execution status and SAP Activate phase readiness packs.
  • Integrated RAID, dependency, and decision logs.
  • Integration, data migration, OCM, business readiness, SI, and vendor trackers.
  • Testing readiness dashboard, cutover plan, go/no-go readiness package, Hypercare issue/SLA dashboard, and executive exception report.

Required Experience

  • 10-15 years of ERP project or program management experience, preferably on the client/owner side.
  • 2-5 years experience managing SAP S/4HANA implementation programs, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud using SAP Activate.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Cloud ALM for SAP delivery tracking, testing, defects, sign-offs, and readiness management and SAP Signavio or similar
  • Experience managing integrated ERP plans across SAP, data migration, integration, OCM, third-party applications, security, reporting, and business readiness.
  • Experience using Monday.com, Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, Planview, or similar PMIS tools.
  • Strong understanding of data migration execution, including extraction, mapping, transformation, loading, validation, reconciliation, mock loads, and cutover data loads.
  • Strong understanding of integration workstream management, including interface scope, ownership, middleware dependencies, test sequencing, defects, and cutover activation.
  • Proven SI delivery management - challenged vendor plans, documented delivery gaps, and escalated issues using SOW milestones and evidence.
  • Strong RAID, dependency, critical path, issue escalation, and executive reporting discipline. PMP, SAP Activate certification, or equivalent ERP delivery experience preferred.

Success Measures

  • One integrated program plan exists across SAP, data migration, integration, OCM, security, third-party applications, vendors, and client-side readiness.
  • SAP Cloud ALM and the broader PMIS tool are aligned and actively used.
  • All workstreams are synchronized to SAP Activate phases, testing windows, cutover, and go-live readiness.
  • Integration and data migration dependencies are visible, owned, tracked, and escalated before they impact the critical path.
  • Leadership has a clear view of what is on track, late, blocked, at risk, and requiring decision.
  • SI and vendor delivery are tracked against evidence, not narrative status.
  • Phase gate, testing, cutover, and go-live decisions are supported by complete readiness evidence.
  • The full program, not only the SAP workstream, is under execution control.
