Company Overview: E-Typist, Inc. is a dynamic and innovative legal transcription and virtual assistant company committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions to our clients. We are seeking a talented and experienced Verbatim Court Transcriptionist to join our team. This contracted position offers an opportunity for experienced verbatim transcriptionists to showcase their skills while enjoying the flexibility of setting their own working hours. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong transcription skills, and thrive in a challenging environment, we welcome you to apply.
Position Overview: The successful candidate will have the ability to transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions accurately from audio recordings, maintaining a strict verbatim format. Proficiency in identifying speakers and knowledge of QA, Colloquy, and court formatting rules is essential. Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus! AAERT certification receives premier consideration! Applicants will be required to complete a skills assessment test. This is a contract position with compensation paid at a per-page rate.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Audio Transcription: Transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with precision. Accurately identify speakers and capture all spoken content in verbatim format.
  • Quality Assurance: Apply quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court formatting rules. Familiarity with QA processes to maintain high transcription standards.
  • Colloquy Knowledge: Demonstrate understanding of legal terminologies, colloquy, and court-specific language.
  • Time Management: Manage 1-3 day turnaround times, allowing minimum of 1 day per 1 hour of assigned audio. Meet deadlines consistently while maintaining accuracy.

Qualifications:
  • Verbatim Transcription Experience: Proven experience in transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions with adherence to court formatting rules. Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus!
  • AAERT certified applicants will have premier consideration for the position.
  • Q&A and Colloquy Knowledge: Ability to distinguish and format Q&A and colloquy format.
  • Software Proficiency: Competence in using transcription software and Microsoft Office.
  • Skills Assessment: Willingness to undergo a skills assessment test to evaluate abilities.
  • Availability: Able to transcribe a minimum of 1.5-2 hours of audio per day.

  • Internet Connection: Strong and reliable internet connection for seamless communication.
