Job description

Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) Attorney – Loan Servicing & Asset Management (Remote – U.S.)

Are you an experienced Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) attorney with a strong background in loan servicing, asset management, and representing lender clients? Are you looking to leverage your expertise with a nationally recognized law firm while working remotely from anywhere in the United States? This is an opportunity to join one of the nation's leading AmLaw 100 firms and work on sophisticated commercial real estate finance matters with a premier legal team.

About the Role

Trustpoint.one is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CMBS Attorney to support our client's nationally recognized Real Estate Finance practice on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will advise lender and special servicer clients on a wide range of post-closing commercial mortgage loan matters, including loan servicing, asset management, modifications, assumptions, consents, workouts, and other complex servicing transactions involving securitized commercial real estate loans.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile CMBS matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage CMBS loan servicing and asset management matters for lender, master servicer, and special servicer clients
  • Review and analyze servicing requests, including assumptions, transfers of ownership, leasing matters, easements, modifications, consents, and reserve disbursements
  • Advise clients on servicing agreements, pooling and servicing agreements (PSAs), loan documents, and securitization requirements
  • Draft and negotiate servicing-related documents, amendments, consents, waivers, and other transaction documents
  • Collaborate with clients, servicers, borrowers, and internal legal teams to facilitate efficient resolution of servicing requests
  • Provide practical legal guidance on commercial real estate finance issues while ensuring compliance with applicable loan documents and CMBS servicing standards

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing
  • 5+ years of experience handling CMBS loan servicing, asset management, or commercial real estate finance matters
  • Experience representing lenders, master servicers, special servicers, or institutional real estate finance clients
  • Strong understanding of commercial mortgage loan documentation, servicing agreements, and CMBS transactions
  • Excellent drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Prior experience with an AmLaw firm, national law firm, or sophisticated commercial real estate finance practice is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment
  • All candidates must be able to work at a computer screen for a sustained amount of time

What's in It for You

  • Join a prestigious AmLaw 100 firm with a nationally recognized commercial real estate finance practice
  • Work remotely from anywhere in the United States
  • Long-term contract opportunity with the potential for direct hire
  • Competitive compensation and the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-value CMBS transactions
  • Collaborate with industry-leading attorneys and institutional lender clients on complex commercial real estate matters

If you're an experienced CMBS attorney with a passion for commercial real estate finance and lender representation, we'd love to hear from you. Submit your resume highlighting your relevant CMBS loan servicing and asset management experience today.
