Job description

Job Overview:
The Senior Marketplace Specialist serves as an advanced operational resource within UNFI's 3P marketplace team, responsible for overseeing communication workflows, supporting complex supplier and customer inquiries, and coordinating cross functional activities across pricing, merchandising, operations, and marketplace leadership. This role provides elevated support to the Director, Marketplace, Pricing Manager, and Merchandising Manager, and plays a key role in maintaining catalog integrity, monitoring operational performance, and ensuring timely resolution of marketplace issues. The Senior Specialist also contributes to process improvement, documentation development, and training of junior team members.
Job Responsibilities:
Marketplace Operations & Catalog Quality
• Lead catalog maintenance activities, including large scale SKU updates, attribute corrections, and content quality reviews.
• Support seller onboarding by reviewing documentation, validating compliance requirements, and coordinating with internal teams.
• Monitor order flow and operational KPIs, flagging exceptions and coordinating cross functional resolution.
Marketplace Readiness & Operational Quality Assurance
• Conduct pre launch readiness checks for new suppliers, new items, and major catalog updates to ensure accuracy of attributes, pricing, compliance documentation, and fulfillment configurations.
• Perform routine audits of marketplace listings to identify data gaps, content issues, compliance risks, and operational defects, escalating systemic issues to Marketplace leadership.
• Validate end to end order flow for new suppliers and categories, ensuring operational alignment across Pricing, Merchandising, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams.
• Partner with Technology and Product teams to test new marketplace features, identify defects, and provide structured feedback to improve platform stability and user experience.
• Maintain quality standards for catalog accuracy, operational reliability, and supplier performance, ensuring the marketplace meets internal SLAs and customer expectations.
Pricing & Merchandising Coordination
• Conduct detailed competitive pricing reviews, margin checks, and pricing validation in support of the Pricing Manager.
• Support merchandising initiatives including category refreshes, promotional planning, and supplier content audits.
• Maintain and improve internal trackers, dashboards, and reporting tools.
Reporting, Analysis & Process Improvement
• Prepare operational reports for marketplace leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and recommended actions.
• Maintain and enhance SOPs, workflow documentation, and training materials.
• Provide guidance and informal leadership to Marketplace Specialists, including onboarding support and task delegation when appropriate.
Advanced Inbox Management & Issue Resolution
• Oversee shared marketplace inboxes, ensuring timely triage, prioritization, and routing of inquiries.
• Resolve moderately complex supplier and customer issues directly when appropriate.
• Monitor SLA performance and escalate risks or delays to leadership.
• Identify systemic issues and recommend process improvements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Experience:
• 2-4 years of experience in eCommerce operations, marketplace support, merchandising coordination, pricing support, or related fields.
• Experience with marketplace platforms, PIM systems, or catalog management tools, preferred.
• Familiarity with food, beverage, or CPG categories, preferred.
• Experience supporting cross functional teams in digital commerce environments, preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage complex inquiries.
• High proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort working with large datasets.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
Work Environment:
Remote Role:
• This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.
Travel (minor):
• This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.
