Remote Assistant Graphic Designer information

What is a remote assistant graphic designer?

Remote Assistant Graphic Designers are creative professionals who work from a remote location to support design teams or clients with various graphic design tasks. They typically assist with creating visual content such as logos, social media graphics, marketing materials, and presentations, all while collaborating virtually using digital tools. This role requires strong design skills, proficiency with graphic design software, and effective communication to interpret client needs and feedback remotely. Remote Assistant Graphic Designers offer flexibility for both employers and employees and can work for agencies, companies, or as freelancers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote assistant graphic designer?

To thrive as a Remote Assistant Graphic Designer, you need a solid understanding of design principles, proficiency in graphic design software (such as Adobe Creative Suite), and a portfolio showcasing your work. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Trello, or Figma, as well as basic knowledge of web and print production processes, is typically expected. Strong communication skills, time management, and the ability to take feedback constructively are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration. These skills ensure you can deliver creative, high-quality designs efficiently while meeting client and team expectations in a remote work environment.

What are the common challenges faced by a remote assistant graphic designer and how can they be addressed?

As a Remote Assistant Graphic Designer, one of the main challenges is maintaining clear communication and understanding project expectations without in-person interactions. To address this, it's important to be proactive in asking clarifying questions, utilizing project management tools, and ensuring regular check-ins with your team. Additionally, managing time effectively across different tasks and deadlines can be complex, so setting up a structured daily routine and using digital tools to track progress are key strategies. Collaborating remotely often means sharing files and feedback digitally, so becoming proficient with cloud-based design and collaboration platforms is essential.

Job description

At Danis Building Construction Company, innovation is built into everything we doโ€”and our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team is leading that charge. Weโ€™re looking for a creative, tech-forward problem solver to join us as a VDC Designer, helping bridge the gap between design and construction through cutting-edge technology and collaboration.

In this role, youโ€™ll bring ideas to life through visualization, modeling, and digital coordination. From training project teams on new software to managing BIM models, performing drone and laser scans, and experimenting with emerging tools, youโ€™ll play a pivotal part in helping our teams deliver smarter, more efficient projects. Together, weโ€™ll push the boundaries of whatโ€™s possible in construction as we continue to grow and take on exciting new challenges.

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to a wide range of design and engineering efforts, from traditional architectural design to self-perform prefabrication and ICT support.
  • Develop 3D and 2D construction and fabrication drawings/models, collaborating with clients and trade partners to support complex project coordination.
  • Create compelling visualizations, graphics, animations, and renderings that enhance project understanding and help win new work.
  • Lead BIM initiatives, uphold Danisโ€™ standards, and develop new workflows that strengthen collaboration across teams.
  • Advance our AR, MR, and VR capabilities while supporting our VDC Reality Capture efforts through drone and laser scanning.
  • Mentor and train project teams, sharing VDC strategies that elevate project success and encourage continuous learning.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with producing and analyzing Reality Capture deliverables.
  • Research and help implement industry-leading technologies, workflows, and practices to advance corporate VDC initiatives.
  • Develop and track VDC metrics across departments and projects to measure the impact and success of various initiatives.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Design, or Interior Design.
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience with BIM/VDC initiatives and projects.
  • Mastery in model creation to support various project phases across multiple software platforms.
  • Knowledge of design phases and the information required to complete each successfully.
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, production cycles, and priorities.
  • High competency in design and construction software, including:
    • Autodesk Revit
    • Adobe Creative Suite
    • Various rendering platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Passion for mentoring, training, and supporting project team members to help them reach their full potential.
  • Willingness to travel to regional offices to coordinate and implement corporate VDC initiatives.

Desired Traits

  • Highly collaborative with a customer service mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving and construction risk management skills.
  • Self-starter who is detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to change.
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn new technologies.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking, and excited by whatโ€™s next in construction.

Working Conditions

Most of your time will be spent in our newly remodeled open office environment, collaborating with project teams and other departments. Occasionally, youโ€™ll be out in the field performing site-specific activities such as drone flights, laser scanning, or model verificationโ€”tasks that may include light lifting or climbing ladders and stairs.

Why Danis?

At Danis, design is at the heart of how we build. Our VDC team brings creativity and technology together to turn ideas into experiencesโ€”whether thatโ€™s through immersive visualizations, refined models, or groundbreaking digital tools that change how we see construction. Youโ€™ll have the freedom to explore new technologies, experiment with emerging visualization methods, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and builders who share your passion for design innovation.

Here, your ideas donโ€™t just live on a screenโ€” they help shape the spaces where potential comes to life.

Why Youโ€™ll Love Working Here

  • Youโ€™ll gain broad field experience across multiple projects and building systems.
  • Youโ€™ll work alongside talented builders and mentors who take pride in doing things right.
  • Youโ€™ll have access to ongoing training, technology, and growth opportunities.
  • Youโ€™ll join a company that values craftsmanship, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
