Reports To: Executive Director - Special Education
EMPLOYMENT DATE TO BE DETERMINED
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • To assist schools in meeting the unique behavioral needs of each individual student. To gather and review evaluation data, and conduct evaluations, with emphasis placed on validity and application of data, and to foster communication and cooperation between school and home.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Master's Degree
  • School Psychologist License by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist
  • Texas Teacher Certificate preferred
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Have a profound knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and procedures, including special education
  • Have a successful experience as an School Psychologist in a public school setting
  • Exhibit skills in administering psychological assessments, evaluations, and feedback
  • Have knowledge of child development and human behavior
  • Possess knowledge and sensitivity to the impact of diversity issues as related to student achievement and mental and behavioral health
  • Demonstrate expertise in behavior modification, along with a strong background in behavior management techniques
  • Demonstrate effective communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong analytical and organizational skills
EXPERIENCE:
  • Successful experience in school setting.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and necessary.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Be available for behavior observation.
  • Offer consultation with school staffs.
  • Participate actively in Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings.
  • Maintain a multitude of daily appointments.
  • Assist in developing and presenting in staff development.
  • Write reports/recommendations for school staff.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the field through professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • None

  • Handling emotionally stressful situations and maintaining control under stress, being empathetic, possessing excellent listening and communication skills, and accepting responsibility and leadership.
