Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT), Applications Management Group (AMG),Div. of Medicare System Modernization (DMSM).
As an IT Specialist (Artificial Intelligence), GS-2210-13, you will build platforms that streamline the end-to-end Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning lifecycle, manage resources, automate workflows, and ensure compliance and governance.

Help
  • Provide technical guidance and training to product managers, data scientists and engineers on platform usage and best practices.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with product owners and business stakeholders to analyze complex program requirements, identify strategic opportunities for AI/ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to productionize fraud prevention models, ensuring seamless transition from development to production environments while maintaining model performance, monitoring, and compliance.
  • Design and implement security frameworks and access controls for AI/ML platforms to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with federal regulations.

You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; AND
4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
1) Identifying and evaluating Artificial Intelligence (AI) use cases, developing implementation best practices, or supporting adoption of AI solutions across development teams to improve efficiency and program operations;
2) Facilitating collaboration with product owners and business stakeholders to analyze program requirements, identify opportunities for Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions, or developing mission-aligned approaches that improved business operations and supported cost-effective outcomes;
3) Providing technical guidance to data engineering teams (including contractors and vendors) on the design, implementation, maintenance, or improvement to support machine learning lifecycle management; AND
4) Assisting with deploying fraud prevention models into production environments and monitoring model performance and compliance throughout the model lifecycle.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
