Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Hartford, CT has the following opening for a Staff Software Engineer.

Summary of Duties: Maintain accountability for software designs across multiple product teams. Focus on collaboration and thought leadership to drive continuous improvements. Support development and implementation of a new AWS Cloud Based File Integration Layer application between HIG LOB's and our new Treasury SaaS provider. Support in-house Enterprise Financial Reporting datastore. EFR provides dynamic, self-service, parameter-driven Tableau dashboards and data sources for the Managed Reporting environment. Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation templates, Terraform, YAML files, build specifications, and Lambda functions to have a completely automated build and release process for all AWS resource infrastructure and code artifacts. Utilize knowledge of Amazon Web Services, including but not limited to Lambda, ECS, EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, and Service Catalog. Maintain current legacy Expense Oracle Forms applications in support of migration to new platforms in alignment with The Hartford's strategic initiatives. Utilize ability to understand technology trade off risks and rewards for the best customer value delivery. Develop code that conforms to The Hartford coding standards and industry best practices. Work closely as a member of a Scrum team, contributing towards the team's goals of improving our Agile, delivery and Dev Ops practices, with the goal of shifting left and improving overall quality of our delivered code. Proactively identify, analyze/research and address technical issues/defects along with risks that could impact projects, enhancements or an applications stability and provide solutions to quickly resolve them. Assist Architects/Technical Leads in developing and implementing application integrations involving a range of applications from third party off premise cloud applications to on premise legacy applications. Understand and implement the technical vision for projects, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, organizational impacts and architecture rationalization.

Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation. In addition, position requires 2 years of experience in the following skills: Containerization and cloud infrastructure environments, such as AWS and various AWS resources, including Lambda, ECS, Fargate, Cloud Formation, S3, AWS Load Balancing (ALB), Stepfunctions, CloudWatch Events, EC2, and Glue; Engineering Integrations using middleware technology, such as ETL tools, including Informatica, and API management tools; Infrastructure as Code, such as CloudFormation and Terraform; AWS application development; Continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, including tools such as GitHub, Codebuild, Jenkins, UDeploy, and Rally; Oracle/RDS, and Postgres relational database technologies; Oracle Development, including PLSQL, SQL, Oracle Forms and Reports, and Aurora PostgreSQL; LINUX Shell Scripting; Informatica; Tableau; Python for data analytics; BI Tools, including Tableau; Building ETL and BI reports based on data from multiple sources; Writing code to automate manual processes; Working on Agile projects, prioritizing product backlog, and providing Agile metrics; and Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) Integration.

Salary Range: $147,430 to $172,080 per year.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees.
