The division uses applied data architecture, programming, data visualization, GIS mapping, and statistical modeling to segment audiences and reach them efficiently and effectively. We also combine data from disparate sources into interactive dashboards to facilitate campaign management, optimization, and reporting. The selected individual will conduct data analysis, infrastructure, and visualization as part of projects to identify, understand, and track audiences for public education campaigns including tobacco/nicotine education campaigns. This will include coordinating with internal teams and vendors to integrate campaign media data into campaign performance dashboards. This person will provide technical guidance and coordinate the completion of project tasks and deliverables across teams and team members, upholding high standards for the team to exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities include:

    • Building and maintaining data visualizations for data exploration and trend analysis using Tableau and PowerBI dashboards.
    • Conduct data analysis to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and shape actionable insights (including reports, presentations, and models). This includes descriptive reporting, casual inference, segmentation, and predictive modeling.
    • Regular client interactions, such as presentations, reports, and status meetings to develop and refine data solutions to meet client needs, report on project progress, and share results.
    • Ongoing communication with vendors and internal communication campaign teams to represent findings, coordinate next steps, navigate joint decision-making, and discuss potential implications
    • Working in a collaborative team environment to logically design communication campaigns based on data.

    Qualifications:

      • At least 5 years' relevant experience with data science, segmentation, or communications planning
      • Master's degree in social science, data science, public health, statistics, marketing or related field. PHD preferred
      • Proficiency with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar
      • Experience in working with Cloud computing servers (e.g. AWS) and data and data science related services (e.g., RDS, S3, SageMaker).
      • Expertise in Python
      • Proficiency in R and SQL
      • Experience using database and ETL systems to query and extract data using medallion architecture
      • Data science experienced including supervised, semi-supervised, and unsupervised models; generalized linear/additive models; mixed models; random forest; clustering techniques; Bayesian approaches; cross-validation and model performance evaluation
      • Experience working with large, complex, and nuanced datasets
      • Superior verbal and written communications skills
      • Applicants may be subject to a low-level government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to sensitive information
      • A collaborative, problem-solving mindset
      • Curiosity, flexibility, and a desire to learn

    Preferred Qualifications:
