What does a remote architectural hardware consultant do?

A Remote Architectural Hardware Consultant specializes in advising architects, builders, and clients on the selection and specification of architectural hardware, such as door locks, handles, hinges, and access control systems. Working remotely, they review project plans, ensure compliance with building codes and standards, and provide recommendations to optimize both function and aesthetics. They often collaborate with project teams via digital communication tools and may prepare hardware schedules and documentation for construction projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote architectural hardware consultant?

To thrive as a Remote Architectural Hardware Consultant, you need expertise in door hardware specifications, building codes, and architectural design principles, usually supported by relevant industry certifications or experience. Familiarity with specification software (such as Allegion Overtur or ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio), CAD programs, and project management tools is often required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities help consultants coordinate effectively with architects, contractors, and clients. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering accurate hardware solutions that meet safety standards and client requirements in a remote work environment.

How does a remote architectural hardware consultant collaborate with project teams and clients from a distance?

As a Remote Architectural Hardware Consultant, you will primarily use digital communication tools such as video conferencing, collaborative design platforms, and cloud-based documentation to work closely with architects, contractors, and clients.
