Marine Corps University (MCU) / College of Distance Education and Training (CDET)

Locations: CDET Regional campuses (MCB Quantico VA; MCB Camp Lejeune NC; NAS-JRB Fort Worth TX; MCB Camp Pendleton CA; MCAS Miramar CA; MCB Hawaii; MCB Camp Butler Okinawa Japan)

**This position is contingent upon contract award.**


Position Overview

Hatalom is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to support the Marine Corps University (MCU) College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (CSCDEP).

The CSCDEP develops critical thinkers, innovative problem solvers, and ethical leaders prepared to serve as commanders and staff officers in service, joint, interagency, and multinational organizationsoperatingin complex security environments. Through the study of military history, national security, operational art, joint operations, and expeditionary warfare, the program prepares students to address 21st-century security challenges and lead effectively in dynamic operational environments.

Adjunct Faculty work closely with Regional Chief Instructors (RCIs) to provide graduate-level Professional Military Education (PME) instruction and mentorship to U.S. military personnel, foreign military officers, Department of Defense civilians, and interagency personnel enrolled in CSCDEP seminars. Facultyare responsible forfacilitatingdiscussions, grading seminar contributions and written assignments, mentoring students, and fostering critical thinking through discussion-based learning.

The CSCDEP is a two-year distance education program consisting of 35 instructional weeks per academic year. Instruction may be delivered in resident, synchronous online, and asynchronous online formats. This position is contingent upon contract award.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction and Facilitation

  • Coordinate with Regional Chief Instructors to deliver instruction in support of the CSCDEP curriculum.
  • Facilitate graduate-level seminar discussions using Socratic teaching methods and adult learning principles.
  • Lead seminar cohorts consisting ofapproximately 1216 students.
  • Mentor students and provide academic and professional guidance throughout the program.
  • Grade seminar participation, written assignments, research papers, and other course requirementsin accordance withprogram standards.
  • Providetimely, constructive feedback to support student development and learningobjectives.
  • Foster a professional learning environment that promotes critical thinking, analysis, and intellectual discourse.
  • Maintainaccurategrading records, course documentation, and student performance data.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training events, and professional development activities asrequired.
  • Successfully complete all required CDET faculty development and certification requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Marine Corps University academic standards and contractual requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • Field Grade Officer (Major, Lieutenant Commander, equivalent grade, or higher) or civilian graduate of Intermediate Level School (ILS), Staff Academy Workshop (SAW), Tactical Level School (TLS), or equivalent professional military education program.
  • Demonstrated ability tofacilitategraduate-level discussions and mentor adult learners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a distributed learning environment.


Preferred Qualifications

Academic Year One Instruction

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Military or Department of Defense background.
  • Joint Qualified Officer designation or Joint duty experience.
  • ExperienceutilizingSocratic teaching methodologies.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Moodle.

Academic Year Two Instruction

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Military or Department of Defense background.
  • Marine Corps or Joint operational planning experience.
  • Marine Corps or Joint operational experience.
  • ExperienceutilizingSocratic teaching methodologies.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as Moodle.


Security Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenshiprequired.
  • Active Secret clearance (Tier 3 Investigation)required.
