Remote Apparel Pattern Maker information

How do remote apparel pattern makers typically collaborate with designers and production teams?

Remote apparel pattern makers often use digital tools like CAD software and cloud-based platforms to share pattern files, technical drawings, and fit notes with designers and production teams. Regular virtual meetings and feedback sessions help ensure patterns align with design intent and manufacturing requirements. Effective communication and organization are essential, as pattern makers must quickly address revisions and coordinate with multiple stakeholders across different time zones. This collaborative process helps maintain the quality and accuracy of finished garments while working remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Apparel Pattern Maker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Apparel Pattern Maker, you need expertise in garment construction, pattern drafting, and a solid understanding of textiles, usually supported by a degree in fashion design or a related field. Proficiency with CAD pattern-making software such as Gerber, Lectra, or Optitex, along with digital communication tools, is essential. Attention to detail, creativity, and strong time management skills help you excel in remote collaboration and meet tight deadlines. These skills ensure accurate, production-ready patterns and effective teamwork in a distributed fashion design environment.

Job description

We are a leading full-service apparel manufacturer with over 25 years of experience, producing high-quality clothing for major retail brands across North America. Based in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico-just two hours from the U.S. border-we operate as a domestic partner with pricing that competes with overseas vendors. Our 274,000+ sq. ft. state-of-the-art facilities include manufacturing, packing, fulfillment, garment dyeing, embroidery, and cut-and-sew operations. With an annual capacity of 55 million units and expertise in over 1,000 product types, we deliver fast turnaround and unmatched quality for brands focused on pattern-driven and custom apparel.

We're looking for an Apparel Sales Specialist who can deliver from day one. This isn't a training role-you'll already have industry relationships, credibility with retail decision-makers, and experience selling manufacturing services or private-label/white-label apparel. You know how to navigate corporate buyers or respected retail spaces and can immediately generate sales. If you're someone who thrives on results, understands the apparel landscape, and can close deals quickly, this role is made for you. You'll sell our full suite of factory services-including cut-and-sew, dyeing, embroidery, and fulfillment-to major retailers and brands across North America, helping them bring innovative, pattern-focused designs to market. This role is remote-friendly within the U.S., but strategic sales focus and travel for client meetings will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Drive revenue from day one by leveraging existing relationships with retail buyers or manufacturers; target major retail brands, private-label, and white-label clients.
  • Sell our full-service solutions, including cut-and-sew, embroidery, dyeing, fulfillment, and pattern-customized apparel.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through outreach, strategic prospecting, and relationship-building with corporate-level decision-makers.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: pitch, negotiate, close, and deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Partner internally with production, design, and QA teams to ensure client specifications and expectations are met.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activity to identify high-value opportunities quickly.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and virtual meetings to maintain and expand your network.
  • Track pipeline activity, report on sales metrics, and maintain CRM records to ensure accountability and continuous growth.
  • Travel as needed to client sites or our Mexico facilities to support deals and demonstrate capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Proven apparel sales experience with a track record of selling manufacturing services, private-label, or white-label apparel to retailers or manufacturers.
  • Existing relationships with retail buyers, corporate decision-makers, or respected players in the apparel industry-day-1 impact required.
  • Experience selling to major retailers (similar to Zara, H&M, Dynamite) or high-volume wholesale/white-label accounts.
  • Deep understanding of apparel production, including cut-and-sew, dyeing, embroidery, and supply chain logistics.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while managing a national sales territory.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex manufacturing solutions.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Compensation

Base salary ranges from $120,000-$175,000 annually, with flexibility for negotiation based on experience and industry connections. Candidates with strong networks and a proven track record in apparel sales can earn significantly more. This role also includes performance-based commissions and bonuses, offering immediate opportunities to drive revenue and grow within a fast-expanding, innovative company.
