Interim Recruiter (5-Month Contract)  

Dates: November 2nd, 2026 - March 31st, 2027

Join the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) in our mission to foster the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the outdoors. We are seeking an Interim Recruiter to be hands on with the execution of our hiring efforts during a temporary leave coverage period.  

This role is a great fit for an experienced recruiter who can quickly step into an active hiring environment, manage competing priorities, and provide seamless recruiting support to hiring managers and candidates during this temporary coverage period. 

This is a 5-month W-2 contract position with an expected schedule of 40 hours per week. This role is remote; candidates must be based in the Northeast. 

What You’ll Be Doing at AMC 

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment (posting, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and offer support) 

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and align on hiring plans and timelines 

  • Own interview scheduling and feedback tracking through Paycom workflow stages 

  • Conduct resume reviews and phone screens 

  • Ensure timely and clear communication with candidates and hiring teams 

  • Gather feedback to support hiring decisions  

  • Support verbal offer process and coordinate with HR and hiring managers on written offers 

  • Track and report on open roles and pipeline progress 

  • Ensure consistent and compliant hiring practices 

  • Deliver a responsive, engaging, and positive candidate experience aligned with AMC’s mission 

What AMC is Looking For 

  • 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, preferably in an agency environment 

  • Experience recruiting for high-volume, multi-location workforces 

  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), with Paycom experience strongly preferred 

  • Experience recruiting for seasonal, hospitality, outdoor recreation, or nonprofit organizations is a plus, but not required 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple openings and competing priorities simultaneously 

  • Experience tracking candidate pipelines and providing regular hiring updates to stakeholders 

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills 

  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and keep hiring processes moving forward in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range: $30.00/hr

The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, skills and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
