The Richmond SPCA is a non-profit organization located in the heart of Richmond, Virginia. As a leader in the field of animal welfare, we are cultivating a community committed to saving, protecting and enriching animal lives with a mission to provide education and resources to achieve and sustain a no-kill community. Annually, we rescue, rehabilitate and find homes for about 4,000 homeless animals while also providing our region with vital safety net programs designed to keep thousands of pets in loving homes and out of shelters. Our values of collaboration, creativity, honesty, inclusion and respect guide not only what we do - but how we do it.

The Richmond SPCA is seeking a part-time graphic designer to join our Advancement Department. The Advancement Department serves our mission by planning and implementing the Richmond SPCA's overall fundraising, communications, and marketing activities. This position will contribute to the overall success of this team by creating visually engaging assets for use across all promotional platforms and brand materials. The successful candidate will bring strong design skills and a reliable, deadline-driven approach to executing high-quality work within our established brand identity.

  • Revise designs based on feedback and prepare final files for printing or publication when needed.
  • Help with design-related updates to the Richmond SPCA website.
  • Gather and organize images to help maintain our media library.
  • Keep the Richmond SPCA brand consistent across every piece of work you touch.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Ability to react to change productively
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback on creative projects
  • Ability to work in an environment that can be fast-paced and high-stress

Requirements

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with web platforms and content management systems (Wordpress, Virtuous) preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual arts, marketing or related field, 1-3 years of experience in graphic design.
  • Photography skills a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Rapid pace with exposure to potential hazards including animal waste and disinfectants
  • Potential for animal bites and scratches and diseases that are zoonotic (can be transmitted from animals to people)
