At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, we are a mission-driven organization dedicated to championing the health and well-being of our members and the communities we serve.

Our team is the power behind that promise. And, as the industry rapidly evolves and we seek ways to optimize business processes and customer experiences, there's no greater time for forward-thinking professionals like you to join us in delivering on it! As a member of Team Blue, you'll find purpose, opportunities and the support you need to build a meaningful career and make a powerful impact in our community.

This role is key in shaping how Nebraskans engage with their health coverage and will deliver solutions such as intuitive mobile apps and powerful web experiences to help members make better decisions, access care faster, and feel confident about their health journey. This role will build digital experiences for iOS and Android mobile apps as well as responsive web applications. The role will collaborate closely with architects, product, and design teams to bring digital experiences to life and take full ownership from design handoff to app store release, from A/B testing to support and continuous improvement while keeping security, compliance, and member trust at the heart of everything we do.

The ideal candidate will live within driving distance of the Omaha, Nebraska office. This position allows remote flexibility but will have 1 day per week in the office.

If living in one of our approved states (Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas) - this person may travel to our headquarters based on business needs.

What You'll Do:

  • Deliver extremely delightful experiences: Build mobile apps for iOS and Android and responsive web applications that make healthcare simpler, faster, and more personal.
  • Own the lifecycle: Lead apps from design translation through release, monitoring, and support-including managing app store feedback and improvements.
  • Experiment & adapt: Use A/B testing, design sprints, and agile delivery to validate ideas and continuously improve experiences.
  • Embed security & compliance: Ensure every app meets the highest standards for privacy, security, and healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate across teams: Integrate APIs, micro frontends, and vendor solutions into cohesive omnichannel journeys for members and partners.
  • Innovate with AI: Leverage advanced AI-powered tools to accelerate design, development, and personalization.
  • Mentor & guide: Support junior developers, share best practices, and help elevate the digital engineering culture at BCBSNE.

To be qualified for this position, you must have:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of proven experience in building production mobile apps for iOS and Android using React Native
  • Strong experience building responsive web applications with React
  • Track record of end-to-end app ownership: design, build, release, monitor, and support
  • Strong knowledge of mobile/web security best practices and experience working in regulated industries
  • Hands-on experience with API integration, micro frontends, and modern digital architectures
  • Comfort working in agile environments and applying A/B testing and design sprint practices
  • Ability to translate designs into high-performance, production-ready experiences
  • Proficiency with cloud ecosystems (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP a plus)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Passion for solving customer problems and delivering personalized, omnichannel experiences
  • Experience with AI-driven tools to enhance design and development productivity (Lovable, Claude Code, Codex, etc.)
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills
