Job description

Electrical Engineer II
Location: Conyers, GA / Remote (Hybrid options available)

Position: Electrical Engineer II
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer II to support the design and delivery of electrical engineering projects for buildings and structures. This role is responsible for leading smaller projects or project elements through multiple phases of delivery while supporting senior engineers on larger, more complex projects. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical engineering design, technical analysis, construction observation, and project coordination, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering efforts for smaller projects and assigned project elements from concept through completion.
  • Support senior engineers on larger and more complex projects by leading assigned tasks and areas of responsibility.
  • Design electrical systems for buildings and structures, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and related electrical systems.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
  • Develop and edit technical specifications using MasterSpec, SpecsIntact, or similar formats.
  • Perform electrical design analysis and calculations to support project requirements and engineering decisions.
  • Develop electrical input for Design Analysis Reports and other technical documents.
  • Perform design and drafting using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Utilize SKM Power Systems software and other engineering tools to support electrical analysis and design.
  • Conduct on-site electrical assessments, surveys, inspections, and construction observations.
  • Prepare written reports and documentation based on field observations and engineering findings.
  • Perform technical quality control and constructability reviews of calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and other engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate and communicate with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, regulatory agencies, clients, and other project team members.
  • Generate workhour estimates for smaller electrical engineering projects.
  • Assist with project proposals, reports, design documents, and client communications.
  • Monitor project scope and budget and proactively communicate potential risks or scope changes to project leadership.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff and assist with training and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of calculations, drawings, client communications, and field observations.
  • Maintain required professional registrations, licenses, and continuing education requirements.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited four-year engineering program or an equivalent non-American degree subject to review.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience with a qualifying bachelor’s and master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, 8+ years of experience with a qualifying four-year bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or 10+ years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years in the United States, with a qualifying non-American degree.
  • Passed FE and PE examinations administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the United States.
  • Experience with electrical engineering projects involving buildings and structures.
  • Experience with power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm design, and other electrical systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, and SKM Power Systems software.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications, engineering reports, calculations, and design documents.
  • Experience performing construction observations and on-site electrical assessments.
  • Ability to perform technical reviews of engineering work prepared by other engineers and designers.
  • Familiarity with federal design criteria, including UFC, DoD, and VA requirements, or the ability to learn and apply these standards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to travel and attend client or company meetings as required.

Working Conditions:
This position includes both office and field responsibilities. Field work may require climbing ladders, scaffolds, and stairs; working around construction activities and equipment; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; wearing appropriate protective equipment; and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
