Remote Algorithmic Trading Software Developers are professionals who design, develop, and maintain software systems that automate the trading of financial instruments using algorithms. They work from remote locations, leveraging their expertise in programming, quantitative analysis, and financial markets to create and optimize trading strategies. Their responsibilities include writing efficient code, backtesting strategies, integrating with broker APIs, and ensuring system reliability. These developers often collaborate with traders, data scientists, and other engineers to improve trading performance and adapt to changing market conditions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Algorithmic Trading Software Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Algorithmic Trading Software Developer, you need strong programming skills (commonly in Python, C++, or Java), a background in mathematics or quantitative finance, and experience developing trading algorithms. Familiarity with trading platforms, APIs, version control systems (like Git), and cloud computing tools is typically required, along with knowledge of market data feeds and order management systems. Critical soft skills include problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication for collaborating remotely with teams. These skills ensure robust, efficient trading systems and allow for quick adaptation to volatile market environments.

How does a Remote Algorithmic Trading Software Developer typically collaborate with quantitative analysts and traders?

As a Remote Algorithmic Trading Software Developer, you will regularly work with quantitative analysts and traders to translate trading strategies into efficient, robust code. Collaboration often involves virtual meetings to discuss requirements, clarify algorithm logic, and iterate on prototypes based on backtesting results. Clear communication is essential, as you’ll need to ensure your implementations align closely with the team's risk management and performance goals. Most teams use collaboration tools like Slack or Jira, and code repositories like Git, to stay coordinated despite the remote setup.

Are you excited by challenges? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, international and dynamic environment? Then now is the time to join Quorum Software, a rapidly growing company and industry leader in oil & gas transformation.

Quorum Software is the world's largest provider of digital technology focused solely on business workflows that empower the next evolution of energy. From emerging companies to supermajors, throughout every region of the globe, customers rely on Quorum's proven innovation and unmatched global expertise to streamline business operations and make data-driven decisions that optimize profitability and growth. Our industry-leading solutions are transforming energy companies across the entire value chain, helping visionary leaders evolve their organizations into modern energy companies.

Overview

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Principal Architect is the most senior individual-contributor technical authority within the Product Innovation & Engineering (PIE) function. This role sets the technical direction for a secure, resilient, and scalable global SaaS platform that supports a diversified portfolio of energy-focused software products, many of which originated from acquired technology stacks.

The Principal Architect operates as a force multiplier across the organization — translating the CTO’s multi-year technology strategy into concrete reference architectures, standards, and modernization roadmaps. This leader works hands-on across product, engineering, security, and cloud operations teams to reduce complexity, accelerate delivery, and converge the portfolio toward a consistent, cloud-native target state. Influence is exercised primarily through deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and credibility rather than through direct people management.

Responsibilities

Enterprise & Platform Architecture

  • Own the end-to-end target architecture across a diversified, multi-product SaaS portfolio, ensuring consistency, extensibility, and scalability
  • Define reference architectures, patterns, and blueprints that accelerate delivery across global engineering teams
  • Lead high-impact, cross-cutting architecture decisions and resolve the most complex technical trade-offs spanning multiple products and teams
  • Translate the technology strategy into concrete architectural roadmaps and platform investment recommendations with measurable outcomes

Architecture Governance & Standards

  • Establish and steward architectural guardrails, standards, and review processes that enable faster, safer execution without becoming a bottleneck
  • Lead architecture review forums and evaluate significant designs, RFCs, and platform changes against agreed principles
  • Embed security-by-design, reliability, and operational excellence into architectural standards across all products
  • Define and track architectural health metrics, and drive measurable, continuous improvement across the portfolio

Platform Modernization & Technical Debt

  • Lead the modernization of legacy and acquired platforms toward a converged, cloud-native target state
  • Define pragmatic, staged modernization paths that balance customer value, delivery velocity, and risk
  • Actively identify, prioritize, and reduce systemic technical debt critical to long-term scalability and margin
  • Support M&A technical due diligence, platform consolidation, and post-acquisition integration efforts

Data, AI & Scalable Differentiation

  • Architect scalable data and AI-enabled platform capabilities that are pragmatic, governed, and directly tied to customer value
  • Partner with data and product teams on data platform architecture, including large-scale data processing, analytics, and high availability
  • Guide responsible, well-governed AI adoption, balancing innovation with explainability, security, and risk management

Technical Leadership & Influence

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the CTO, engineering leadership, and the broader architecture community
  • Mentor and develop senior engineers and architects, raising the technical bar across the PIE organization
  • Build alignment and drive adoption across product, engineering, security, and infrastructure teams, influencing without direct authority
  • Represent the technology organization as a credible senior technical voice in customer, partner, and due-diligence conversations

And other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including senior or principal-level architecture roles in SaaS organizations
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in platform architecture, distributed systems, and modern cloud-native technologies (e.g., containers, microservices, event-driven architectures, and public cloud)
  • Proven track record designing, scaling, and evolving large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS platforms in production
  • Demonstrated success establishing architectural standards, governance, and reference patterns adopted across multiple teams
  • Experience leading platform modernization, consolidation, and technical-debt reduction across complex or acquired systems
  • Strong background in data platforms, analytics, and/or AI-enabled capabilities
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance technical depth against speed, cost, scalability, and risk
  • Clear, credible communicator capable of influencing senior engineers, executives, and enterprise customers, and explaining complex trade-offs to varied audiences

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with energy-sector software, industrial data platforms, or operational technology-adjacent systems
  • Experience supporting M&A technical due diligence and post-acquisition platform integration
  • Hands-on experience embedding security-by-design and compliance in regulated, data-intensive industries

Additional Details

  • Salary commensurate with experience ($155,000 - $225,000 US Dollars) with bi-weekly pay via direct deposit. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Quorum Software reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications, experience, training, work history, and geographic location of the selected candidate.
  • Background Check: The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances: Criminal History Check, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Driver’s License Verification and passport/ID validation.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Employment eligibility to work with Quorum Software in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for this position. The successful candidate will be required to ensure they maintain and renew any visas or permits that grant employment eligibility where applicable.
