This remote position allows for flexible work arrangements while maintaining a structured work schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the specific needs of elderly residents at our community health clinic.
• Provide individualized and group counseling sessions that address emotional challenges associated with aging, such as loss, depression, and anxiety.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams—including physicians, nurses, and social workers—to create and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to geriatric patients.
• Educate families and caregivers on strategies to enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life of older adults in their care.
• Facilitate bereavement counseling for patients and their families coping with end-of-life issues, offering support during these critical moments.
• Develop and implement cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions designed to enhance cognitive function and promote mental acuity among our elderly clientele.

In this role, you will primarily serve senior citizens dealing with mental health challenges stemming from aging, including but not limited to, grief, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Our clients often experience significant emotional distress due to loss, changes in health status, or challenges in their social environments. Your expertise in geriatric mental health counseling will be crucial in creating tailored interventions that address these complex needs, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid license as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida.
• At least three years of recent experience in providing counseling to elderly individuals facing diverse mental health challenges.
• Demonstrated competence in utilizing evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches tailored to geriatric populations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for effective connections with elderly clients and their families.
• A deep sense of empathy and cultural sensitivity to provide support to older adults from varied backgrounds.
• Strong assessment skills with the ability to design personalized treatment plans reflecting ethical and legal standards in mental health care.

• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
• Experience with telehealth platforms and digital communication tools for remote counseling and therapy.
• Participation in ongoing professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in mental health care for the elderly.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $105,000, commensurate with experience, and includes potential for a sign-on bonus as part of our commitment to attracting top talent.
