Remote Advanced Practice Provider information

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Advanced Practice Providers and how can they be addressed?

Remote Advanced Practice Providers often encounter challenges related to virtual patient assessment, such as limited physical examination capabilities and establishing rapport through telehealth platforms. Effective communication skills, proficiency with telemedicine technology, and adapting clinical judgment to remote settings are essential for success. Building strong collaborative relationships with on-site healthcare teams and maintaining clear documentation can help address these challenges and ensure high-quality patient care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Advanced Practice Provider, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Advanced Practice Provider, you need advanced clinical expertise, a graduate-level degree (such as NP or PA), and valid licensure. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and relevant state or national certifications is typically required. Strong communication, self-motivation, and adaptability are critical soft skills for building patient trust and efficiently managing virtual care. These abilities are essential for delivering safe, high-quality patient care and maintaining effective remote collaboration.

What is a Remote Advanced Practice Provider?

A Remote Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a healthcare professional, such as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, who delivers medical care and services to patients through telehealth technology rather than in-person visits. Remote APPs assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients' health remotely, often using video calls, phone calls, or online platforms. This role allows for greater flexibility, improved access to care for patients in rural or underserved areas, and the ability to maintain work-life balance for providers. Remote APPs often work for hospitals, clinics, or telemedicine companies and must be licensed in the state(s) where their patients are located.

Job description

Help Cancer Survivors Live Fully - From Anywhere
At Survivor Healthcare, our Advanced Practice Providers don't just manage symptoms - they help cancer survivors reclaim their quality of life. Our virtual, multidisciplinary clinic supports patients from diagnosis through long-term survivorship, addressing the physical, emotional, and functional challenges that traditional oncology care often doesn't have time to cover.
If you're a Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner looking for meaningful, relationship-based care, this role was designed for you.
Why This Role Is Different
  • Whole-patient focus: You'll address survivorship needs that go beyond disease management - including function, symptoms, and daily living
  • True multidisciplinary care: Work closely with occupational therapy, nutrition, mental health, and oncology partners
  • No RVU pressure: Visits are lengthy to support personalized, high-touch care
  • Longitudinal relationships: Support patients over time, not just episodically
  • Designed for flexibility: Fully remote care with scheduling based on a 32-hour work week to enhance work-life balance
About Survivor Healthcare
Survivor Healthcare is an innovative virtual telehealth clinic dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer. We partner with oncology practices to deliver comprehensive survivorship and supportive care, with a proven track record of improving patient outcomes and experiences.
Our multidisciplinary model integrates oncology, occupational therapy, mental health, and nutrition to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in a virtual-first environment.
About You
You are a clinician who believes survivorship care deserves the same rigor and respect as acute oncology care. You're comfortable practicing independently, curious and adaptable, and motivated by helping patients achieve meaningful improvements in daily life.
You thrive in virtual care settings and value collaboration, autonomy, and purposeful work.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive intake evaluations for new patients, identifying unmet needs, goals, and limitations
  • Develop and support individualized care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team
  • Provide education to patients and referring clinicians on survivorship-focused care
  • Support and guide interdisciplinary team members in patient treatment planning
  • Communicate with patients' oncology teams and primary care providers as appropriate
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care via a secure telehealth platform
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner (U.S.)
  • Five or more years of experience in oncology or palliative care (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a dynamic virtual environment
  • Strong communication skills and exceptional ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues
  • Highly compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
  • Private, HIPAA-compliant residential workspace for telehealth visits
  • High-functioning personal computer with webcam, reliable high-speed internet, and smartphone
  • Comfort using cloud-based tools including G-Suite, electronic medical records, and VOIP systems
  • Solid understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and patient confidentiality requirements
Support & Professional Development
We are committed to clinician success and well-being. Survivor Healthcare provides:
  • Structured onboarding and training
  • Ongoing clinical supervision and peer collaboration
  • Clear escalation pathways for complex cases
  • Opportunities to grow alongside a mission-driven, expanding organization
Work Environment & Flexibility
This is a telemedicine-based role, and all work is completed remotely. Clinicians typically schedule patient visits in blocks that align with their availability. There are no evenings, weekends, or call requirements.
Compensation & Hours
  • Pay: $135,200 - $156,000 DOE
  • Hours: 32 hours per week
  • Location: Fully remote
Our Commitment to Diversity
Survivor Healthcare is an equal opportunity employer. We make employment and advancement decisions based on merit and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
Ready to Join Us?
If you're ready to practice at the top of your license, focus on what matters most to patients, and be part of an innovative model that is redefining survivorship care, we'd love to meet you.
