As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments through telehealth to identify the psychological and emotional needs of patients seeking substance use disorder treatment.
• Crafting individualized treatment plans that adhere to evidence-based therapeutic frameworks, ensuring that care is tailored to each patient’s unique circumstances.
• Providing high-quality individual counseling sessions, utilizing effective therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to facilitate personal growth and healing.
• Leading group therapy sessions aimed at fostering connection and community among individuals in recovery, using proven strategies to promote open dialogue and peer support.
• Collaborating with psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated and holistic care to patients.
• Offering timely crisis intervention support to patients and guiding them through substance-related emergencies.
• Equipping patients and their families with essential education about addiction, available recovery strategies, and community resources that can aid in their ongoing support.
• Maintaining thorough and confidential documentation of patient interactions and treatment plans, in compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards.
• Actively participating in regular team meetings and case consultations to enhance treatment plans and patient care approaches.
• Staying current with the latest research and best practices in substance use disorder treatment, participating in ongoing professional development.

You will work primarily with adults who are struggling with substance use disorders, along with their families. Your compassionate and empathetic approach will play a vital role in building trust and rapport, enabling effective communication and adherence to treatment plans. Understanding the comprehensive challenges of addiction is key as you support patients from diverse backgrounds and experiences in their recovery journeys.

The ideal candidate will hold:

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license, such as LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT, issued by the state of California.
• Strong foundational knowledge of substance use disorders and proficiency in evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering individual and group therapy services within the context of addiction treatment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, complemented by a non-judgmental and empathetic demeanor.
• The capacity to maintain professional boundaries while adhering to ethical guidelines and ensuring patient confidentiality.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications, enhancing the efficiency of care delivery.
