Job description

We’re Hiring: Construction Business Applications Consultant
Full-Time  |  Remote  |  Syscon, Inc.

Are you someone who gets excited about discovering new technology and finding practical ways to help businesses work smarter?
Syscon, Inc. is looking for a Business Applications Consultant who enjoys solving business problems through reporting, automation, business applications, and emerging technology.  This is a client-facing consulting role where you’ll help organizations improve workflows, reporting, technology adoption, and business processes.
This is not an AI developer role. It is a role for someone who enjoys learning new tools, experimenting with technology, and turning those discoveries into practical solutions that make a real difference for clients.
Founded in 1986, Syscon provides technology solutions and IT support services. We foster a culture where our employees, clients, and company grow and succeed together.
How We Work
We are a we. No ego, no drama, no "not my job." Every person on this team owns their piece and shows up for everyone else's. We ask for help when we need it. We take feedback and use it. We treat every task, even the mundane ones, as a chance to take away a client's pain. That's not a value we hang on the wall. It's just how we operate.
If that sounds like the team you've been looking for, we'd love to meet you.
What YOU'LL DO

  • Partner with clients to improve business processes, reporting, workflows, and technology adoption
  • Build Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Create workflow automations using Microsoft Power Platform tools
  • Identify practical opportunities to use AI-enabled tools and automation to improve client operations
  • Deploy reports and business solutions within Sage 100 Contractor and Acumatica
  • Support Syscon’s custom-built business applications
  • Train and support end users through implementation and ongoing consulting
  • Collaborate with developers and consultants to deliver practical business solutions
  • Document client requirements, workflows, and recommendations
  • Continuously explore new technology and share ideas that create value for clients

WHAT YOU BRING
Required:

  • 3+ years of experience supporting business applications, ERP systems, reporting, business intelligence, or technology consulting
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and Power Automate
  • Working knowledge of SQL and SQL Server
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience supporting business applications, reporting platforms, Microsoft business technologies, automation tools, or AI-enabled tools
  • Natural curiosity and a desire to stay current with emerging technology
  • Ability to independently research, test, and apply new tools
  • Comfort working through ambiguity without needing every step defined
  • Ability to translate technology into practical business value for clients
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and client-facing consulting skills
  • Ownership mindset with excellent prioritization and accountability
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Accounting, MIS, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A strong plus:
  • Construction industry experience
  • MSP or technology consulting experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Apps
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot or similar AI platforms
  • Experience with Sage 100 Contractor and/or Acumatica
  • Experience supporting ERP reporting and workflow solutions

ABOUT THE PLATFORMS

This role works heavily with Microsoft business tools, reporting, workflow automation, business applications, and emerging AI-enabled solutions.

Power BI and Power Automate are core tools in this role. Microsoft Power Apps, SharePoint, SQL Server, Microsoft Copilot, Sage 100 Contractor, and Acumatica are also valuable. Have several of these? That’s a dream. Have deep experience in one or two and the curiosity to keep learning? Totally workable. Have strong business applications experience but not every tool listed? Don’t count yourself out. We’re open to the conversation.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • You regularly explore and test emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools
  • You identify practical ways clients can improve workflows, reporting, and automation
  • You confidently turn new ideas into client solutions
  • Clients trust your guidance because you communicate technology in practical business language
  • You help clients successfully adopt new technology that improves how they work

WHY SYSCON

  • Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience; details shared during the interview process
  • Fully remote with a consistent 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday schedule
  • Unlimited PTO plus medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement: Simple IRA with company match
  • Dedicated support teams: IT, Business Applications, and scheduling help handle the administrative and technical logistics so you can stay focused on clients
  • A team that has your back, collaborative, low-drama, and committed to knowledge-sharing and continuous learning
  • Room to shape the role; we’re growing, and the right person will have real influence on how we do things

READY?

Submit your application today. Selected candidates will be contacted for a conversation about their background and experience.

Syscon also serves as a Managed Services Provider (MSP) and IT consulting firm, giving our clients access to a full IT department, Business Applications team, and office support for scheduling and communications.
