Medical Director, ENOVA

(Agency Equivalent: VP, Medical Director)

Role Overview

ENOVA, part of the IQVIA Health Communications Group, is seeking a Medical Director to serve as a senior scientific leader across client accounts, therapeutic areas, and organizational initiatives.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced medical or scientific leader who can shape strategic vision while remaining actively engaged in execution when needed. As a member of a highly collaborative leadership team, you will provide scientific leadership, develop talent, foster client partnerships, and ensure operational excellence across a diverse portfolio of programs and accounts.

The Director operates as a player-coach, balancing senior leadership responsibilities with hands-on scientific involvement to support successful client outcomes, team development, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and scientific direction across client accounts, therapeutic areas, and organizational initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Medical Directors, Scientific Directors, and medical writers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Serve as a senior scientific advisor to clients, building trusted partnerships and shaping medical communication strategies that address evolving business and stakeholder needs.
  • Maintain accountability for the scientific quality, accuracy, and strategic integrity of client deliverables across the portfolio.
  • Oversee complex and high-impact initiatives, including product launches, advisory boards, speaker development programs, congress activities, publications, medical education, and strategic planning engagements.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders across account management, engagement strategy, project management, editorial, and creative teams to ensure seamless execution and successful delivery of client programs.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying risks, removing barriers, and ensuring effective allocation of scientific resources across projects and accounts.
  • Contribute to business growth through strategic planning, proposal development, client relationship expansion, and new business opportunities.
  • Provide leadership during project challenges, stepping in as needed to guide teams and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Support talent acquisition, onboarding, succession planning, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Represent ENOVA and IQVIA at key client meetings, advisory boards, congresses, and other external engagements.
QualificationsRequired
  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent advanced scientific degree.
  • Significant experience in medical affairs, medical communications, the pharmaceutical industry, or a related healthcare environment.
  • Proven success leading and developing scientific teams within a fast-paced, client-focused organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple complex projects and scientific portfolios while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Strong client management and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Experience leading and influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, including resource planning, operational effectiveness, and organizational growth.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $134,300.00 - $374,300.00. Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
