Ignite IT is a government contractor delivering innovative technology and professional services to federal customers. As we continue to grow, we're expanding our accounting team and are looking for a Staff Accountant / Accounting & Finance Specialist to join us.

About the Role
As a Staff Accountant / Accounting & Finance Specialist, you'll work directly with the Corporate Controller and be an integral part of a collaborative finance team. You'll support the day-to-day accounting operations that keep our business running efficiently while gaining exposure to a variety of accounting and finance functions.
This is a hands-on accounting role with exposure to everything from daily accounting operations and month-end close to subcontract administration, compliance, and process improvement. It provides an opportunity to broaden your accounting experience, contribute across multiple areas of finance, and continue to develop professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records
  • Process vendor invoices, support accounts payable activities, and help ensure timely and accurate vendor payments
  • Record daily banking transactions and assist with cash management activities
  • Set up and maintain employee and subcontractor records within our accounting and timekeeping systems
  • Prepare, issue, and maintain subcontract purchase orders and related project tracking documentation
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
  • Assist with subcontractor accounting administration and compliance documentation
  • Support month-end close activities, 1099 preparation, reconciliations, and other accounting projects
  • Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; Associate degree in Accounting with relevant experience will also be considered
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while remaining engaged and collaborative with the team
  • Must be available during Eastern Time business hours

Preferred Qualifications
  • GovCon experience is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with Unanet is a plus, but not required
