Job description

Pay: 80-90k annually

I'm Responsible For…

  • Oversight of financial transactions for multiple residential and commercial properties, ensuring accurate and complete posting of transactions in the general ledger
  • Performing monthly bank and credit card account reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly financial statement packages for management and ownership
  • Assisting in monthly financial statement analysis and annual budget preparation
  • Overseeing a remote staff accountant processing accounts payable invoices in Buildium/Yardi, ensuring proper posting to the appropriate entity and expense accounts
  • Accurately recording bank transactions in Buildium/Yardi
  • Setting up new vendors in the accounting software and collecting W9s and Certificates of Insurance
  • Coordinating with our outside tax accounting firm on income tax returns
  • Preparing 1099-INT and 1099-NEC forms
  • Leading software system design and implementation, and documenting processes and procedures as we scale
  • Establishing internal controls for the organization
  • Communicating in a professional manner and providing accounting guidance and recommendations to management

I'm Qualified Because I Have…

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5–10 years of full-cycle accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of tax matters relevant to real estate/property management
  • Experience with systems implementation, ideally in a property management setting
  • The ability to succeed in a start-up environment and a genuine desire to build and maintain a strong accounting function
  • Strong communication skills and comfort advising management directly
  • Familiarity with Buildium and/or Yardi is a plus but not required
