Job description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a remote accounting team on a contract basis supporting operations in California. This project will likely last through the end of the year and we are looking for someone who can work PST hours. This assignment is designed to provide dependable accounting coverage during a contract leave while helping the team stay on track with close deadlines and daily financial activities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a distributed environment and can contribute across general ledger, payables, receivables, and reporting tasks.


Responsibilities:

• Manage invoice processing and related accounts payable activities to keep vendor payments accurate and timely.

• Provide support for receivables work and step in as needed to ensure continuity across billing and cash application tasks.

• Review and record employee card activity in Ramp, confirming transactions are coded properly and transferred accurately into the accounting system.

• Prepare journal entries and post them during the monthly close cycle with appropriate supporting documentation.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts such as cash, corporate cards, and accrued liabilities, resolving discrepancies promptly.

• Contribute to month-end close and assist with the preparation of internal financial reports.

• Maintain the integrity of general ledger data by organizing records and preserving clear audit support.

• Participate in additional accounting assignments and special projects based on team priorities.

• At least 3 years of experience in staff accounting or general ledger accounting is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries, complete reconciliations, and support month-end close activities.
• Practical knowledge of both accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Experience using Sage Intacct is strongly preferred.
• Exposure to foreign currency accounting is highly valued.
• Ability to manage deadlines and produce accurate work in a fully remote setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred, though not required.
