Job Overview

As a Remote Accountant, you will handle various accounting responsibilities, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, payroll processing, and monthly financial reporting. You'll work closely with our finance team, project managers, and external auditors to maintain financial accuracy and regulatory compliance. This remote role offers flexibility while requiring periodic virtual team interactions to align with project needs and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Record Maintenance:

Manage and oversee all financial records, transactions, and reports. Maintain accuracy and compliance in all financial documentation.

- Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Process invoices, track payments, and manage accounts receivable and payable schedules to ensure timely settlements and collections.

- General Ledger Management:

Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and maintain accurate financial statements.

- Payroll Processing:

Oversee payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees while complying with state and federal payroll regulations.

- Financial Reporting:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insights on the company's financial performance. Support the finance team in forecasting and budgeting processes.

- Compliance and Audit Support:

Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and legal regulations. Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits, preparing required documentation and responses.

- Tax Preparation Assistance:

Support the preparation of tax documents and filings, working closely with external tax advisors and the internal finance team.

- Team Collaboration:

Attend virtual team meetings and liaise with project managers to align financial reporting with project budgets and progress.

Requirements

- Education:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

- Experience:

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in engineering, construction, or related industries.

- Technical Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems), along with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles):

Solid understanding of accounting principles and ability to apply these to financial reporting and compliance.

- Attention to Detail and Strong Analytical Skills:

Capable of accurately managing large amounts of data and analyzing financial results to support informed decision-making.

- Effective Communication Skills:

Ability to communicate financial data clearly and concisely with team members, project managers, and stakeholders.

- Self-Motivation and Reliability:

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications

- CPA or CMA Certification

- Experience in Engineering, Construction, or Project-based Accounting

Familiarity with project-based accounting practices, cost-tracking, and budget management.

- Experience with Cloud-based Accounting Solutions

Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software and secure document management practices.
