About the Job

We are seeking a skilled and experienced ServiceNow Developer to join our ServiceNow Platform Team within Service Design. As a ServiceNow Developer, you will design, develop, test, and deploy platform enhancements, integrations, and automations across the ServiceNow environment. You will work within an Agile delivery model alongside business analysts, QA, platform administration, and vendor development partners. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including IT teams and business users, to understand requirements and translate them into effective ServiceNow solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • ServiceNow Configuration: Perform hands-on configuration and customization of the ServiceNow platform to meet business requirements. ServiceNow modules in use include Incident Management, Change Management, Service Catalog, CMDB, Asset Management, ITOM, and more.
  • Scripting: Write and document clean, efficient, and maintainable code using JavaScript, including server-side (Business Rules, Script Includes, Scheduled Jobs, UI Actions, Flow Designer) and client-side (Client Scripts, UI Policies, Catalog Client Scripts). Code reviews and quality control checks should be undertaken as part of every update set, project, and upgrade.
  • Integration Development: Design, develop, and maintain integrations using ServiceNow Workflow Data Fabric (IntegrationHub - Flow Designer actions, spokes, subflows), REST/SOAP APIs (both inbound Scripted REST APIs and outbound REST Messages), and middleware-based architectures. Apply integration patterns including ETL, e-bonding, and event-driven designs. Consider API transaction governance and entitlement consumption when designing and optimizing integrations.
  • Technical Acumen: Provide expertise for all technical issues related to development. Support the administration of multiple ServiceNow instances including access control, workflow automation, data management, integrations, and system maintenance and upgrade tasks.
  • Scoped Application Development: Develop and maintain ServiceNow scoped applications with an understanding of application scope isolation, cross-scope access patterns, and the implications of custom table creation on platform licensing. Align development work with ServiceNow's Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with implementation partners, system admins, business users, and IT teams to gather requirements, understand process workflows, and translate them into efficient and scalable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Solution Design and Development: Design and develop ServiceNow solutions including forms, workflows, scripts, business rules, UI policies, and integrations to meet business requirements and improve overall system performance.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Manage tool configurations to ensure reliable production. Conduct thorough testing of ServiceNow enhancements, updates, and patches to ensure system stability, functionality, and adherence to best practices. Familiarity with ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) for regression testing is a plus.
  • Security and Compliance Awareness: Proactively identify security considerations in business rules, integrations, and access control designs during the development process. Support platform security hardening activities including ACLs, security properties, data classification, and Health Scan remediation.
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design documents, integration runbooks, knowledge articles, system configurations, and workflows as a standard part of the development lifecycle. Provide training and guidance to end-users and other administrators on ServiceNow functionality and best practices.
  • AI-Augmented Development: Leverage ServiceNow Now Assist capabilities including AI-assisted code generation (Build Agent), virtual agent design, and predictive intelligence configuration. Support Now Assist for ITSM use cases including case summarization, resolution recommendations, and knowledge article generation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain ServiceNow certifications, stay updated on the latest ServiceNow features, updates, enhancements, and industry trends. Identify deficiencies or opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions to optimize the use of the ServiceNow platform.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a ServiceNow developer configuring and customizing the ServiceNow platform particularly for ITSM, ITOM, and HAM modules. Experience with ServiceNow product implementation is a bonus.
  • ServiceNow Certifications: ServiceNow certifications such as Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified System Administrator (CSA), or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more ServiceNow modules.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in ServiceNow platform configuration, including user management, access control, form design and workflow automation, scripting (server-side and client-side), business rules, UI policies, integrations, and reporting. Experience with IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP API development, and scoped application development. Understanding of CSDM and platform licensing implications of custom tables.
  • AI and Automation Skills: Familiarity with ServiceNow Now Assist capabilities, including AI-assisted code generation (Build Agent), virtual agent design, and predictive intelligence configuration. Comfort working with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to evaluate AI-generated output for quality and compliance.
  • ITIL Knowledge: Familiarity with ITSM/ITIL processes and best practices, particularly Incident Management, Change Management, and Service Catalog. ITIL v4 certification is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex business requirements, identify system issues, and propose effective solutions. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with management, stakeholders, vendor partners, and contracted resources. Ability to gather requirements, provide technical input during discovery, and deliver training and support to users. Proactive communication about progress, challenges, and dependencies is expected.
  • Self-Direction: Ability to take ownership of assigned work from requirements through deployment, manage competing priorities, and raise blockers early.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions. Must possess a keen eye for identifying and resolving system issues and inconsistencies.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and continuously learn and apply new concepts and technologies.
