Remote Access Control Engineer information

What is a Remote Access Control Engineer?

A Remote Access Control Engineer is an IT professional responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure remote access solutions for an organization's systems and networks. Their main duties include configuring VPNs, managing access permissions, and ensuring that remote connections are protected against unauthorized access. They often work with various security tools, firewalls, and authentication protocols to maintain secure connectivity for remote employees or third parties. This role is critical for organizations that support remote or hybrid work environments, helping to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with security policies.

How does a Remote Access Control Engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure seamless system integration and issue resolution?

Remote Access Control Engineers work closely with on-site IT and security teams through regular virtual meetings, real-time communication tools, and remote monitoring software. They often assist with system installations, troubleshoot access issues, and provide guidance or training to staff on-site. Effective collaboration relies on clear documentation, proactive communication, and a strong understanding of both the technical environment and the physical security requirements. This teamwork ensures that remote configurations align with on-site needs and that any issues are swiftly addressed.

What is the difference between Remote Access Control Engineer vs Network Security Specialist?

Both roles often collaborate but serve distinct functions within cybersecurity teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Access Control Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Access Control Engineer, you need a solid understanding of network security, access control systems, and authentication protocols, usually supported by a degree in computer science or related certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CISSP. Job description

Introduction:
Join our dedicated team as a Principal Control Systems Engineer, where you will lead complex engineering initiatives that power communities and industries. ENTRUST Solutions Group is an industry leader in engineering, consulting, and automation services, known for delivering innovative and reliable solutions across the electric power generation sector. In this role, you will be at the forefront of turbine control systems engineering, guiding high‑impact projects and supporting broader power generation efforts to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operation.

Responsibilities:
In this senior‑level role, you will plan, schedule, and coordinate the technical execution of complex power generation projects, with a primary focus on power plant control systems. You will design and program both hardware and software solutions for power plants, concentrating on instrumentation, control, and electrical systems to deliver high‑performance, reliable outcomes. You will also contribute to engineering proposals by defining technical scopes, estimating schedules, and planning resources. Collaboration is central to this role—you will work closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors through structured processes such as Design Reviews, Program Reviews, and Project Closeout Meetings. This position offers flexible work options—including remote, hybrid, or in‑office arrangements depending on location—and requires travel of approximately 15–30% to support project needs and client engagement.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, 401(k) with company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules.
  • This position pays $120,000–$145,000 annually and is an exempt position. Benefits offered include company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident, and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full‑time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10–20+ years of experience in controls, electrical, and instrumentation.
  • Subject‑matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: steam turbine controls, gas turbine controls, and/or balance‑of‑plant systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DCS and/or PLC systems, including programming and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork through effective communication and collaboration with peers, management, and clients.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 15–30% locally and domestically.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Turbine Control System experience (process knowledge, DCS/PLC integration)
  • Engineering degree or related technical field.
