Job Description

The Senior Training Manager, Oncology, will be responsible for helping develop and deliver Oncology Training for commercial field representatives. Reporting to the Associate Director of Training, this person will work closely with his/her training peers as well as our global trainers to jointly develop training related to disease, product, sales effectiveness, market knowledge, and operations training intended for members of the Commercial organization.

Key Accountabilities/Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining subject matter expertise for disease states, products and therapeutic areas
  • Developing and executing training programs and initiatives with minimal guidance
  • Designing and enhancing current curriculum to meet needs of the Commercial organization
  • Coordinating with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Medical and Regulatory to ensure accuracy of medical content and compliance with promotional policies for training materials
  • Managing vendors when developing training content and executing contract requirements
  • Performing project management function during the development of training content
  • Leading training meetings to include planning, logistics management, vendor monitoring, and participant conduct
  • Partnering with Marketing, , and Commercial Leadership to develop training that meets brand objectives and to coordinate the rollout of training materials for field colleagues
  • Influencing and leading without authority by collaborating with cross functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Market Access, etc) to provide highly effective, timely, innovative and relevant training solutions
  • Collaborating with external partners to help provide best-in-class training deliverables
  • Collaborating with our partner company colleagues to ensure there is alignment of training strategy and tactics
  • Builds trust and credibility with Business Partners through regular interaction and is evidenced by feedback and proven working partnerships (adheres to AbbVie Ways of Working pillars)
  • Acting as a resource for field sales through active participation in all sales meetings and routine field rides.
  • Designing and leading the execution of training work sessions at National Sales and POA Meetings
  • Developing and maintaining facilitation skills expertise in support of training content delivery
  • Continually assess the organization’s training needs for both clinical fluency and development competencies and provide appropriate feedback for innovation
Qualifications
  • Requires minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience preferred
  • Training, Marketing or Sales experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry preferred
  • Knowledge of Heme Oncology disease; specifically, Multiple Myeloma  areas preferred
  • Experience developing training tools to enable the enhancement of clinical acumen is a plus
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, training design concepts, and platforms is a plus
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at different levels of the organization
  • High level of professionalism and the ability to excel in a complex cross-functional environment supporting collaborative project planning
  • Ability to work in an unstructured, ambiguous environment
  • Obtains strategic insight to appropriately dedicate time to important initiatives
  • Exceptional oral presentation and executive leadership communication skills
  • Excellent learning, problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and perform effectively with minimal supervision
  • Expertise with AI and innovative technology platforms (iPAD) and programs (e.g. MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel) is highly desirable

This is a headquarter based position with preferred location at ABV1, open to remote position with 50% required travel to headquarters.
