Job Summary: The person in this position is part of the team concept in Milwaukee Medical Associateโ€™s, SC health delivery system, which is devoted to the delivery ofย care in an ambulatory setting with emphases on prevention and health maintenance. Assist Dr. Husnain, Dr.Mohammed, and the clinical staff in performing their duties and carrying on the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Job Duties (Including but not limited to):

- Prepare patient for examination.

- Note brief history or the reason for visit in the patientโ€™s chart.

- Take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, temperature.

- Assist the clinical staff in completing examination and procedures as instructed.

- Take health history for all new patients.

- Follow universal precautions to protect self and patients.

- Stock exam rooms with supplies.

- Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip for response by medical personnel.

- Assist with prescription refills, prior authorizations, scheduling appointments, lab results, etc.

- Provides exemplary customer service; treats patients and coworkers with courtesy and discretion.

- Enters confidential personal health information into computerized system with a high rate of accuracy.

- Complies with federal and local laws in ensuring patient privacy.

- Ability to relate to the public regardless of racial, ethnic and economic status

- Ability to work with clinical staff and handle pressure from more than one provider.

- Schedules patient appointments and coordinates cancellations, reschedules, and additions to schedules. Provides accurate, detailed information regarding test preparations, time patient to arrive, and any other directional information needed by patient.

- Monitors patient flow to ensure they are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner.

-Offers various assistance to patients to include arranging transportation needs, providing directions, locating wheelchair, etc.

- May file, retrieve, and/or deliver patient information and/or records, and completes required forms/documentation.

- Conducts reminder calls to all patients.

- Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart.

- Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.

- Obtains prior authorization for medications and procedures.

- Any other duties or responsibilities the clinical staff may assign from time to time and when the need arises.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

High School Diploma/GED required.

- Must be a graduate of a Medical Assistant program which has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

- Must have successfully passed the CMA/AAMA certification/recertification exam.

- Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology.

- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.

- Must have a current CPR Certificate

- Proficiency using Microsoft office products, electronic mail, and electronic medical record systems.

- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

- Must be able to alphabetize and file accurately; type words and numbers quickly and accurately; must comply with HIPAA Confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information.
