Job Description
AECOM's Water Business Line is seeking a talented Water and Wastewater Project Manager with a passion for water, wastewater conveyance, treatment plant evaluation, design, and construction. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an established career serving as a client-facing project manager on regional and municipal water and wastewater treatment projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to an established and successful water practice in the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA or Newark, DE) working on a diverse range of technically challenging water projects.
Success in this role requires strong communication, comfort tackling diverse projects across differing industries, sincere motivation, eagerness to collaborate, and outstanding leadership, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
Once You Are Here You Will:
  • Lead multi-discipline and complex water and wastewater design projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases, including alternative delivery projects.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients with multiple projects, to approved scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Perform technical reviews and implement AECOM quality standards.
  • Serve as a point of contact internally and externally for projects and clients in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
  • Develop and mentor mid-level and junior staff for career development.
  • Support business development activities, including technical and cost pricing efforts for proposals.
  • Have decision-making authority and direct others in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.
  • Lead business development activities, including pursuing new clients and projects and serving as leader of proposal efforts, including technical and cost pricing.
  • Actively participate in water and wastewater organizations through presentations at conferences and volunteering.

What are we looking for? Someone who is comfortable and ready to tackle the following responsibilities:
  • Develop technical approach including scope, budget, schedule and resource needs for complex water/wastewater projects.
  • Prepare budget proposals, track project cost and progress to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee technical reports and ensure designs meet sound engineering principles.
  • Highly collaborative, communicative and creative team leader.
  • Interface with client and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage project risk and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Navigate complex regulatory requirements and the parameters associated to achieve project success.
  • Technically someone who is familiar and skilled in the following:
  • Project management, planning and scheduling
  • Water/Wastewater Treatment Design
  • Microsoft Office
  • AutoCAD Design & GIS
  • Data analytics and visualization (Excel, Power Bi, Bluebeam etc.)

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.

Preferred Capabilities:
  • 10+ years of related experience in water/wastewater consulting and engineering management.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in PA, NJ, DE or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Previous experience leading scope, technical approach and pricing efforts for leading business development activities.
  • Previous water and/or wastewater treatment, pumping stations, collection systems and client relations experience.
  • Previous experience leading client and public presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and motivate staff and project team.
  • Previous experience leading design build/alternate delivery projects.

  • The selected candidate must be available to work in Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA or Newark, DE office on a hybrid scheduled basis.
