Job description

BUILDER WANTED. Senior Project Manager
Not just a Senior Project Manager. A Builder.
You build alignment. You build momentum. You build trust between owners, design partners, trade partners, field teams, and stakeholders. Most importantly, you build successful projects-and the teams that deliver them.
At HGC Construction, we're looking for a Senior Project Manager who can lead large, complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. You bring strategic leadership to the project team, take ownership of financial performance and risk, and keep people focused on delivering exceptional work safely, on schedule, and within budget.
A Legacy of Building Careers
At HGC Construction, we're building for the long haul.
We believe exceptional projects are built by exceptional people who share our values. We know our employees are more than their job titles-they're people with families, interests, and lives beyond work. That's why we work hard, support one another, celebrate wins together, and create opportunities for growth.
Our teams are united by a commitment to quality, integrity, and doing the right thing. We're not just building structures-we're building careers, relationships, and a legacy that lasts.
What You'll Build
  • Lead large, complex construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, driving successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and project teams.
  • Partner with Preconstruction during bidding, subcontractor procurement, buyout, and scope review.
  • Own project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and change management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other key project stakeholders.
  • Oversee project documentation, including contracts, submittals, RFIs, procurement logs, and project records using Procore and other project management tools.
  • Identify project risks early and implement proactive solutions that keep projects moving forward.
  • Ensure compliance with Owner Contracts, company policies, and all OSHA, EPA, ODH, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Support business development efforts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support successful project and company outcomes.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing large, complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, contract administration, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, and other construction management software.
  • Fit to Work / OSHA 30 certification.

The Bottom Line
This role is for an experienced construction leader who knows how to see the whole project-people, performance, risk, relationships, and results. You'll lead complex work, develop project teams, strengthen client relationships, and take ownership of the decisions that move projects forward.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position works in an office environment and on active construction sites with heavy machinery and advanced safety requirements. Employees must comply with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Regularly: walk; lift, carry, and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Sometimes: walk; lift, carry, and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally: reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl.
