Relocation Move Manager information

What does a relocation move manager do?

A Relocation Move Manager oversees and coordinates all aspects of a client's move, whether it's for an individual, family, or business. Their responsibilities include planning the logistics, managing packing and transportation, handling documentation, and ensuring belongings arrive safely at the destination. They act as the main point of contact throughout the process, addressing any concerns and resolving issues that may arise. This role is essential for reducing the stress and complexity of moving, especially for long-distance or international relocations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a relocation move manager?

To thrive as a Relocation Move Manager, you need strong project management abilities, knowledge of logistics, and experience in customer service, often supported by a background in business or supply chain management. Familiarity with move management software, inventory tracking systems, and CRM platforms is typically required. Exceptional organizational skills, proactive communication, and problem-solving capabilities help you stand out in this role. These skills are vital for ensuring smooth, timely, and stress-free relocations for clients while coordinating multiple moving parts effectively.

What are some common challenges faced by relocation move managers, and how can these be addressed on the job?

Relocation Move Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating logistics across multiple locations, managing tight timelines, and addressing unexpected issues like delays or damaged goods. To effectively handle these situations, strong organizational skills, proactive communication with clients and vendors, and the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances are essential. Building a reliable network of service providers and using specialized move management software can also help streamline the process and ensure a smooth relocation experience for clients.

Our crews handle unit relocations, move-outs, and debris removal for property management partners, working efficiently and respectfully in occupied and vacant residential communities.
Position Summary
TCG is hiring Relocation Specialists (Movers/Helpers) to join our Paterson, NJ crew at the Carroll Street site. This is a hands-on, physically active role responsible for safely packing, moving, transporting, and removing furniture, belongings, appliances, and debris as part of unit relocation and turnover projects. Relocation Specialists work as part of a crew under the direction of a Project Manager or Crew Lead.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safely lift, carry, load, and unload furniture, boxes, appliances, and personal belongings
  • Properly wrap, pad, and protect items during transport, including mattresses (using mattress sleeves and heavy-duty mattress bags per TCG protocol)
  • Perform debris removal and unit clean-outs as assigned
  • Load and unload company vehicles in an organized, damage-preventing manner
  • Follow all site-specific instructions and scopes of work provided by the Project Manager or Crew Lead
  • Treat residents, property staff, and client representatives with professionalism and respect at all times
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site; report any damages, incidents, or hazards immediately
  • Follow TCG attire, attendance, break, and cell phone use policies
  • Handle company equipment and tools responsibly
  • Comply with all workplace conduct, safety, and drug/alcohol policies
Qualifications
  • Prior moving, warehouse, labor, or general contracting experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation to the Paterson, NJ (Carroll Street) job site
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license a plus, not required
  • Must be able to pass a background check
Schedule
Part-time, as needed on a weekly basis. Hours and days will vary depending on active project sites and scheduled relocations; crew members will be notified of shifts in advance each week. Flexibility and reliable availability on short notice are important for this role.
