Job description

Company Description
Lake Veterinary Clinic is looking for a compassionate, motivated Associate Veterinarian to join our team in Mount Dora - one of Central Florida's most charming small towns. Whether you're a recent DVM graduate or an experienced veterinarian ready for a change of scenery, this is a chance to build a rewarding career in a community that feels like a postcard.
About the Role
As an Associate Veterinarian at Lake Veterinary Clinic, you'll provide high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care to companion animals in a supportive, collaborative environment. We're looking for someone who genuinely loves animals and people, communicates well with clients, and wants room to grow their clinical interests.
Why Mount Dora?
Relocating is a big decision, so here's why so many people fall completely in love with life here:
A lakefront town with serious small-town charm. Mount Dora sits along the shores of Lake Dora, part of the scenic Harris Chain of Lakes, and is known for its walkable historic downtown filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and restaurants tucked among oak trees draped in Spanish moss.
Nicknamed "Festival City" for a reason. Mount Dora hosts more than 30 festivals a year, including the massive Mount Dora Arts Festival every February, a Blueberry Festival, a Seafood Festival, and Renninger's Antique Extravaganza. There's genuinely always something happening.
Outdoor life on the water. Lake Dora spans more than 4,000 acres and is popular for bass fishing, kayaking, and boat tours. You can even take a small electric catboat tour through the scenic Dora Canal, where alligators and native birds are common sightings.
A lighthouse in landlocked Florida. The Mount Dora Lighthouse at Grantham Point Park is one of the few inland lighthouses in the entire state, and it's become a beloved local landmark and photo spot right on the water.
Antiquing and shopping like nowhere else. Renninger's Twin Markets, spread across 117 acres, draws antique hunters and treasure seekers from all over the state, and the historic downtown is full of independent shops, galleries, and cafes.
Real Southern hospitality. With a population of around 13,000, Mount Dora has that rare mix of small-town warmth and genuine culture, all wrapped up in one walkable, golf-cart-friendly community.
Close enough to the big city, far enough for peace and quiet. Mount Dora sits about 30 miles northwest of Orlando, so big-city amenities, an international airport, and major sports and entertainment are all within about 45 minutes, while home is a quiet, lake-view retreat.
History around every corner. From the Lakeside Inn, the oldest continuously operating hotel in Florida (built in 1883 and once host to President Calvin Coolidge), to the well-preserved historic downtown, Mount Dora has a story behind nearly every building.
Pet-friendly through and through. Many of Mount Dora's inns, restaurants, and parks are pet-friendly, which fits right in with a community built around a love of animals.
Job Description
What you'll do:
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical and surgical cases
  • Perform wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventive care
  • Build lasting relationships with clients and the Mount Dora community
  • Work alongside a supportive team of technicians and support staff
  • Pursue your own areas of clinical interest, whether that's dermatology, dentistry, or something else entirely

What We Offer:
  • Sign-On Bonus, Relocation Assistance, and Student Loan Support
  • Competitive compensation with paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, liability, 401(k), and more
  • Generous CE allowance and paid professional dues
  • Employee pet care discounts
  • Access to a national DVM mentor network

Ready to lead, mentor, and grow with us? Join a team that's shaping the future of veterinary medicine while honoring its rich history.

Qualifications
What we're looking for:
  • DVM/VMD from an accredited veterinary program
