This position offers the chance to work in a fastpaced, dynamic grocery store environment that's constantly evolving.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations of the Meat Department, ensuring high standards for product quality, freshness, cutting, merchandising, and food safety.
- Supervise, train, and coach a team of Meat Cutters, Butchers, and Meat Clerks to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Achieve department goals in sales, gross profit, labor, shrink, and inventory accuracy.
- Perform handson meat cutting, trimming, wrapping, and stocking as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HACCP standards, and all food safety and sanitation requirements.
- Build strong customer relationships by delivering friendly, knowledgeable assistance at the service counter.
- Manage scheduling, task delegation, and staffing for a team of 2-20 associates.
- Use store systems to manage ordering, production planning, and reporting.
- Serve as ManageronDuty when assigned.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
- Soft skills: Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and the ability to motivate teams, solve problems, and maintain a positive, professional presence.
- Competencies: Experience in retail meat or grocery department management with the ability to multitask, manage priorities, and oversee merchandising, inventory, and production planning.
- Knowledge: Understanding of food safety (HACCP), retail grocery operations, and meat quality standards including proper handling and rotation.
- Abilities: Capable of working in cold environments, lifting and handling products, performing repetitive tasks, and effectively leading a team.
- Educational requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.
- Travel requirements: May require occasional travel for training
- Other requirements: Ability to work a full-time retail schedule including weekends, willingness to relocate if needed, and commitment to food safety and compliance.
