Staff AI Frontend Engineer - San Francisco, CA - $250K-$315K

Location: San Francisco, CA

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Overview:

We're seeking a Staff AI Frontend Engineer to help build the next generation of AI-powered user experiences. This role sits at the intersection of frontend engineering, product design, and AI innovation, creating intuitive interfaces for complex enterprise workflows.

You'll work directly with a small, highly technical team to build scalable frontend systems, AI-native experiences, real-time applications, and next-generation user interfaces that leverage generative AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Architect and build scalable frontend systems and reusable component libraries.

Develop production-grade React, Next.js, and TypeScript applications.

Design and deliver AI-powered user experiences and workflows.

Build real-time frontend features, dashboards, and interactive user interfaces.

Partner with product, design, and engineering teams to bring complex AI capabilities to customers.

Optimize application performance, scalability, and user experience.

Help establish frontend architecture, standards, and engineering best practices.

Leverage modern AI development tools to rapidly prototype and ship features.

Requirements:

6+ years of software engineering experience.

Expert-level React, Next.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend development experience.

Strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimization, and scalable system design.

Experience building production-grade web applications.

Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.

Strong product mindset and design sensibility.

Startup experience or significant ownership of complex products.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Must be located in San Francisco or willing to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Founder or founding engineer experience.

WebRTC or real-time streaming experience.

Voice AI product experience.

Generative AI or AI-native product development.

Python backend experience.

Experience building developer platforms or internal tools.

Compensation & Benefits:

Base Salary: $250,000-$315,000

Employment Type: Full-Time
