Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Special Education Teacher to provide tailored instruction and support to students with diverse learning, emotional, and physical needs. The primary objective is to create a supportive learning environment that allows students to reach their full academic and functional potential. This role involves developing individualized education programs (IEPs), modifying general curricula, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure every student has equal access to education.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
  • Adapt and modify general education lesson plans and materials to meet the learning styles and accommodations required by students.
  • Provide direct instruction in small groups or one-on-one settings, focusing on academic, social, and life skills.
  • Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations, data collection, and observation to adjust instruction and meet IEP goals.
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior intervention strategies and individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, school psychologists, and therapists to coordinate comprehensive student support.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including attendance, progress reports, and legal IEP documentation.
  • Supervise and provide direction to paraeducators or classroom assistants to ensure effective classroom management and instructional delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state teaching certification or license in Special Education for the relevant grade level.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding special education, including IDEA and Section 504.
