Job description

St. John's College High School is seeking a Religion Teacher to begin in August of 2026.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about Catholic education, committed to fostering the spiritual and academic development of students, and eager to contribute to the mission of a Catholic, Lasallian college preparatory high school.
The Religion Teacher will create a respectful and thoughtful classroom environment that encourages students to deepen their understanding of Catholic theology, morality, scripture, service, and faith formation.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned religion and theology courses in accordance with departmental curriculum and school standards.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans, discussions, assessments, and instructional materials.
  • Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, faith, inclusion, and intellectual inquiry.
  • Encourage students' spiritual growth and understanding of Catholic teachings and values.
  • Integrate service, ethics, and faith-based reflection into classroom instruction where appropriate.
  • Assess and monitor student progress and communicate effectively with students and parents regarding academic performance.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and classroom records.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, retreats, liturgies, professional development activities, and school events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, Campus Ministry, administration, and families to support student development.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties, activities, and events as needed.
  • Support and uphold the Catholic and Lasallian mission of the school community.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred, particularly at the high school level.
  • Practicing Catholic.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to Catholic and Lasallian education.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and complete onboarding requirements.

Schedule
Full-time, 10-month faculty position following the academic calendar of St. John's College High School.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $62,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and tuition remission opportunities consistent with school policy.
