This position is responsible for providing administrative assistance and support to the General Counselโ€™s Office Attorney assigned to Florida State Hospital.  This includes performing a wide variety of complex legal and administrative functions, with minimal supervision, such as gathering data, preparing written reports, legal documents, and correspondence, and providing guidance and assistance to staff.  Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Relieve the Attorneys of routine administrative and/or clerical functions by independently providing administrative assistance and support by preparing legal pleadings, memoranda, reports, and other documents.  Screen, analyze and respond to inquiries not requiring the attention of an Attorney.  Research, develop, and prepare material for reports for review/information needed by the Attorneys.
Track and follow-up on assignments, for the Director of Legal Services, that require administrative and/or legal actions to ensure deadlines are met.
Maintain calendar for the Hospital Attorneyโ€™s Office; schedule meetings, hearings, and depositions, communicate with participants/witnesses and provide pertinent background information as requested by the Attorneys.
Monitor/track office budget while ensuring accurate preparation of supply, purchase, and printing requisitions for approval.
Maintain employee files for Hospital Attorneyโ€™s Office.  Prepare and process hiring packages, employee evaluations, position descriptions, requests for personnel action, etc.
