Are you passionate about the intersection of operations, project management, and finance? MasTec Power Deliver is seeking a Sr. Project Controls Manager to join our high-growth commercial and industrial division (focused on data centers) within the Power Delivery segment. This role partners closely with operational leadership to support data-driven decision making, ensure financial accuracy, project performance visibility, cost controls, change management discipline, and reliable forecasting across complex infrastructure projects.

You’ll lead a team of project controls professionals while serving as the trusted integration point between Operations, Project Management, Scheduling, Accounting, and Finance. Reporting to the Operating Company’s Finance Lead, you will play a central role in delivering financial insights, supporting decision-making, and ensuring strong financial and operational controls.
The Sr. Project Controls Manager connects cost performance, change management, project forecasting, revenue and margin impacts, cash flow, and schedule implications into clear, actionable information for operations and finance leadership.


Responsibilities
  • Build, lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 4 project controls professionals, establishing clear priorities, standard work, and accountability for timely, accurate project support.
  • Oversee project financial controls for the Commercial and Industrial business unit, including, WIP, billing, collections, cost coding, accruals, revenue recognition support, cost management, and financial accuracy.
  • Partner with Operations, Project Management, Scheduling, and Procurement to integrate cost performance, change activity, productivity, schedule progress, and forecast assumptions into a clear view of project performance.
  • Perform contract review, project setup, risk assessment, contingency governance, and project closeout to ensure disciplined execution and alignment with project controls standards.
  • Develop and maintain reliable project forecasts, including estimates-to-complete (ETC), estimates-at-completion (EAC), margin projections, cash flow impacts, and risks and opportunities.
  • Perform variance and trend analysis to explain financial and operational drivers, identify emerging risks, and recommend corrective actions before issues impact profitability or cash flow.
  • Maintain visibility into the change order pipeline, including pending, approved, and disputed changes, and assess impacts to revenue, margin, cash flow, and project forecasts.
  • Support change order valuation, tracking, documentation, forecasting, and revenue recognition in accordance with company policies and contractual requirements.
  • Evaluate schedule-driven financial impacts in partnership with Project Managers and Scheduling personnel, including labor productivity, procurement timing, revenue recognition, margin, and cash flow implications.
  • Prepare project controls reporting, dashboards, and presentations that provide leadership with consistent visibility into project performance, forecast position, change activity, and risk exposure.
  • Ensure adherence to business processes, approval workflows, financial controls, and government and organizational reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, IT, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Contracts, Legal, Operations, and Project Management to support execution strategy, compliance, and timely issue resolution.
  • Drive consistency and continuous improvement in project controls practices, reporting standards, forecasting methodologies, and financial processes across assigned projects and business units.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or finance.
  • Understanding of data-driven decision making and financial modeling
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes, and controls
  • Minimum of 10 years in project controls, project finance, cost control, or construction accounting
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with Operations, Project Management, Scheduling, Finance, and Accounting
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate financial and project information into actionable insights
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and team priorities
  • Experience supporting large-scale EPC, utility, transmission, distribution, data center, industrial, or infrastructure construction projects
  • Strong understanding of project forecasting methodologies, change order management, productivity measurement, and cost control principles
  • Ability to interpret project schedules and understand schedule-driven impacts to project financial performance
  • Experience utilizing project management, ERP, business intelligence, and project controls systems
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating project controls personnel preferred
  • Broad knowledge of Project Control Systems and processes including leading schedule processing software, databases, and spreadsheet applications (i.e.: Primavera P6, Procore).
