Job description

Purpose and role of job:
Responsible for providing maintenance & reliability support and leadership on a designated production line. This is a hands on role. This role will be the focal point for maintenance and reliability activities, including planning and scheduling, work prioritization, troubleshooting, and others. The incumbent will be responsible for both short and long term performance improvements of their respective line.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
โ€ข Responsible as the technical and maintenance lead for designated production line.
โ€ข Primary point of contact for non-emergency work for their designated line.
โ€ข Appreciates the impact of his/her maintenance repairs on quality, uniformity and productivity.
โ€ข Responsible to encourage and mentor maintenance mechanics and machine operators, instilling confidence and ability.
o Helps to identify training needs for technicians and for self.
โ€ข Responsible for work order management for their designated line:
o Stays aware of all incoming work requests for their line.
ยง Approves new requests and assigns priority.
o Manages all work orders for urgency and priority, working with the planner/scheduler to obtain resources required to complete the work.
o Coordinates parts required for work orders, interfacing with parts department and ensuring proper stock levels are met for planned work.
o Reviews all emergency work orders from their line, expecting attention to detail and thorough descriptions of issues encountered.
โ€ข Performs predictive inspections of their lines, according to schedule, returning FDI's (Found During Inspection) to Infor.
โ€ข Coordinates Planned Maintenance events with Maintenance Planner, as well as identifying other outages that can be used to schedule work.
โ€ข Leads, participates, and manages PM down days.
โ€ข Accesses and analyzes line performance data through MES and other data acquisition systems, performing trending analysis and measuring improvements.
โ€ข Works with Reliability Engineers to complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for issues that interrupt production, reduce yield or show repetitive patterns.
o Develops and maintains action plans for resolving chronic and repetitive issues.
โ€ข Understands and improves Preventative Maintenance requirements, seeking opportunities to increase or reduce frequency or need.
โ€ข Must gain and develop troubleshooting skills, to be applied toward root cause identification and solution.
o Creates troubleshooting guides for equipment and systems.
โ€ข Maintains accurate equipment logs and files.
โ€ข Perform Failure analysis using Root cause methodology.
โ€ข Creates monthly Reliability reports, illustrating work performed and connecting that work to measureable line performance improvement.
โ€ข Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate risks that could adversely impact plan operations.
โ€ข Supports the long-range Reliability plan, developed cooperatively with group leadership.
โ€ข Supports the development of precision maintenance tools.
โ€ข Supports the development of a predictive maintenance program, performing required tasks and interfacing with other specialist personnel.
โ€ข Participates in and supports all capital projects that impact their production line.
โ€ข Supports other Maintenance Line Specialists, as required.
โ€ข Shift schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00am.-3:00pm. with overtime as required.
โ€ข On call for troubleshooting support, as required.
โ€ข Off hours and weekend work, as required.
โ€ข Other duties, as required.
Education and experience requirements:
โ€ข Minimum two (2) years maintenance experience in process manufacturing at PFN or a minimum of 5 years external but comparable experience.
โ€ข HS diploma or equivalent required. Two-year technical school preferred.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
โ€ข Strong analytical, troubleshooting and decision making skills.
โ€ข Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
โ€ข Good interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work as a team player.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to provide directions to and work with others to achieve desired outcomes.
โ€ข Solid overall knowledge of plant equipment and processes.
โ€ข Able to perform assigned duties without direct supervision.
โ€ข Experienced in assisting plant engineering with elimination of repetitive failure modes through improved technologies and equipment modifications and upgrades.
โ€ข Ability to read drawings, manuals, and technical documents.
โ€ข High level of understanding and ability to use analytical tools and troubleshooting both mechanically and electrically.
โ€ข Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer usage
Work Environment:
Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walk / stand 100% of time during a 12-hour shift.
  • Constant bending, kneeling, and climbing throughout shift.
  • Constant climbing and reaching into machines to fix jams.
  • Frequent reaching overhead during shift.
  • Constant pushing and pulling with arms and legs throughout shift.
  • Constant lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Constant use of hands and occasional use of foot control.
  • Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.
  • Operation of roll manipulators, baler, and compactor.
  • Daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area.
  • Required participation in a daily pre-shift warm-up routine.
