OVERVIEW
The Reliability Manager must have the ability to lead/coordinate/manage, maintenance, repair, and reliability programs for a large Sugar refinery. In this position, he/she will be responsible for managing a team of reliability engineers, maintenance supervisors, and technicians to maintain the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the refinery. The Reliability Manager is responsible for executing the structured work processes and systems necessary to achieve and sustain both the Reliability Engineering and Maintenance Planning missions. This individual will also create a proactive culture by developing people to value asset reliability, planning, and Reliability Excellence. He/she will report directly to the Refinery Manager and work in a team environment with the other department heads.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the predictive and preventative maintenance programs and other reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Manage reliability engineers and develop this role into an integral part of the overall maintenance program to mitigate chronic bad equipment causing loss in production.
  • Lead development and continuous improvement of Equipment Maintenance Plans to improve plant assets to meet production requirements.
  • Develop job plans for work orders in support of the Work Execution team that effectively utilize internal labor, materials, and contractors.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve a standard job plan library.
  • Develop and publish the weekly schedule and three-week rolling forecast.
  • Ensure effective use and integration of information technologies such as SAP Plant Maintenance, condition monitoring, and other technologies. Ensure all WO job plans have the proper documentation.
  • Manage the Maintenance Team Manager and their staff to ensure that all preventive maintenance, work orders etc. are completed in a timely manner.
  • Work with the other department heads on both daily and long-term plans to ensure that all of the various department's goals are aligned.
  • Prepare and administer the department's daily budget; work with the other department heads and the refinery manager to determine a major repair budget and capital budget for the refinery.
  • Work closely with the Safety, Environmental, and Quality teams to ensure the refinery's goals in these areas are attained.
  • Work with the corporate engineering team to develop capital projects, and support the installation of new equipment and systems.
  • Responsible for all maintenance department safety-related matters.
  • Provide training and develop employees in technology, work practices, etc.
  • Build and maintain a teamwork-oriented philosophy and hold team members accountable for their performance. Provide the necessary individual counseling of employees whose performance does not meet acceptable standards and take appropriate actions.
  • Keep abreast of current laws and changes being made that may affect the operation of the maintenance department, i.e. ARC Flash.

WORK EXPERIENCES
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment - demonstrated leadership and management skills required.
  • Expertise in multiple areas of maintenance and reliability, material management, planning and scheduling, and CMMS / EAM / ERP optimization required.
  • Experience with the RCM process, failure mode identification, defect analysis, cause and effect analysis, loss elimination, determination of probability, and consequence of failures; along with the use of FMEA's, RCFA decision logic, and writing tasks to mitigate identified failures required.
  • Experience required with belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators and cranes, evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, motors, blowers, generators, gearboxes, rotary dryers, kilns, and vacuum pans required.
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree in Engineering: B.Ch.E., BSEE, BSME. or similar
  • MBA or master's degree in engineering is preferred
  • PE preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • 2-5 salaried direct reports, 8-12 salaried indirect reports, 50+ hourly indirect reports

LOCATION
  • Baltimore, MD

SALARY PAY RANGE: $140,000 - $260,000 plus bonus
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
