Job Description

The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, calibration, and reliability of all instrumentation and control systems across the plant. This includes supervising maintenance, contractors and IC techs. Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and supporting operational efficiency through reliable control systems. The role serves as the technical expert for instrumentation and automation systems including PLCs, ( Insert additional Controls/Processes )and process control instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Supervision:
  • Supervise local maintenance and outside technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for control systems and instrumentation.
  • Provide maintenance staff development.
  • Maintenance & Reliability:
  • Plan and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance on control systems and instrumentation.
  • Ensure the proper calibration and certification of instruments and devices.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving PLCs, ( List additional )
  • Project & Change Management:
  • Assist in the design and implementation of control system upgrades and modifications.
  • Manage small capital projects related to automation or control system enhancements.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations related to instrumentation.
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, audits, calibrations, and changes to control systems.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, and reliability teams to support plant performance.
  • Act as the liaison with vendors and contractors for technical support and system upgrades.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, ( List additional ) and instrumentation calibration.
  • Familiar with ISA standards, NEC codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, loop drawings, and control logic.
  • Experience with control system platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, or Emerson.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) or similar credential.

Additional Information

• Combination of office and plant/field environments.
• May require occasional climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), or work in confined spaces.
• Availability for emergency call-ins and on-call rotation.
