Maintenance Data & Reliability Analyst
Job Description
The Maintenance Data & Reliability Analyst supports a strategic initiative to improve maintenance performance and equipment reliability within a manufacturing environment. This role transforms maintenance operations from a reactive approach to a proactive, data-driven strategy by leveraging maintenance and operational data. The analyst develops key performance indicators, enhances reporting capabilities, and supports preventive and predictive maintenance programs. This position is ideal for a data-focused professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Extract, organize, and analyze maintenance data from CMMS, ERP, and other operational systems to support data-driven decision making.
- Identify trends, recurring equipment failures, downtime drivers, and improvement opportunities using quantitative data.
- Develop and maintain maintenance dashboards, scorecards, and performance reports that clearly communicate maintenance performance and asset reliability.
- Create, track, and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability.
- Validate and cleanse maintenance data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of all reports and dashboards.
- Present analytical findings, insights, and recommendations to maintenance and operations leadership in a clear and actionable format.
- Assess current maintenance practices and identify opportunities to improve asset reliability and maintenance effectiveness.
- Support the enhancement and optimization of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Analyze equipment downtime, maintenance costs, and work order history to improve maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Track and report key reliability metrics, including Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), equipment downtime, preventive maintenance compliance, and maintenance costs.
- Assist in developing standardized maintenance procedures, documentation standards, and reporting processes.
- Partner with maintenance leadership to evaluate current workflows, maintenance planning processes, and reporting systems, and recommend improvements.
- Help establish maintenance best practices and performance metrics that support long-term reliability and operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through improved maintenance planning, spare parts and inventory management, and resource utilization.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing equipment uptime, reducing unplanned downtime, and improving operational efficiency.
- Provide data-driven recommendations that support long-term maintenance excellence, reliability improvements, and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on maintenance priorities and initiatives.
- Apply root cause analysis techniques to understand failure modes and support corrective and preventive actions.
Essential Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, data validation, and dashboard and chart development.
- Strong data analysis and reporting experience with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Ability to identify trends, opportunities, and root causes using quantitative data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and consistency.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills applied to maintenance and reliability challenges.
- Ability to communicate technical and analytical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capability in data analytics, including building and maintaining reports and dashboards.
- Experience with reliability and maintenance metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, downtime, and maintenance costs.
- Experience performing root cause analysis in a maintenance or operational context.
- Experience within a manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of maintenance and reliability concepts, including preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance, work order systems, equipment downtime tracking, MTBF and MTTR analysis, maintenance cost analysis, and spare parts and inventory management.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or similar asset management platforms.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for sharing insights and recommendations with leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and work closely with maintenance leadership and operations teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Experience supporting or leading continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Project management skills to coordinate and track maintenance improvement activities.
- Experience in reliability engineering or preventive maintenance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain sustainable reporting processes.
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
Work Environment
This role supports a manufacturing maintenance organization and involves close collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and maintenance leadership team. The analyst works in a production-focused environment where equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency are critical. The position centers on establishing sustainable reporting processes, improving visibility into maintenance performance, and creating a roadmap for long-term reliability improvements. The role initially begins as a contract position, with the opportunity to transition to a full-time role based on performance and workload. The work environment emphasizes continuous improvement, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration with maintenance, operations, and other stakeholders.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
